An instructor was fired for saying nigger during class, in the context of his lecture. How do you feel about this? Just cause? Or political correctness and hypersensitivity at work?

"While reviewing a chapter about identity and the body, Zaruba referred to himself as "a nigger on the corporate plantation." (Zaruba is white).
Any time the word nigger comes up I'm on it like the FBI is on a crime scene!! This situation here is a difficult one to assess because there are a lot of factors to be looked at. First, I want to start off with the teacher. It seems as if he used it to illustrate a particular point in a art class, but I'm failing to understand the context in which he was using it. I think that he could have used another example to prove the exact same point and would have got the same point across and I'm sure he feels the same way. I don't believe that the only example he could have came up with had to involve the word nigger. It seems like he is a good guy in which it wouldn't appear that he is a racist , but these things have a funny way of coming out when you least expect them to. This shows some issues of aversive racism in the one of the articles Ive read. Dovidio pointed out in his aversive racism article that people who strongly support egalitarian principles in which they consider themselves as non-prejudiced also unconsciously harbor negative emotions and beliefs. This is saying that he may not think he is a racist but unconsciously he has racial feelings due to his statement. If someone really cared and thought about the hurt and pain Black people had to endure associated with the word nigger, they would be more careful and less likely to use such a derogatory word to reference a point. A student said that he sometimes uses examples that most people would find very offensive which shows that he expresses negative feelings often in that class. In our class its a little different because the class has to do with racism prejudices and stereotypes which causes us to reference different views people may have. The context that we use it in is to refer to different racial issues which makes it acceptable. The other point I wanted to elaborate on was how the faculty fired him because of his usage of the word of the word. Due to all the racism that is going on in various school systems around the country today, this faculty probably considered that when determining if he should be fired. In my opinion, they my have thought that if they made the decision to fire him, this would make a point that this sort of behavior is unacceptable in our school system or anywhere. Also making the statement that their particular university didn't tolerate that sort of behavior especially coming from a faculty member. This would also caution teachers be more politically correct in referring to different races and to make better judgments in teaching material. As I recall I posted a view that had a teacher using the word directly towards a Black student and he didn't get fired also the student remained in his class for the duration of the semester. Overall I think this action of the university was justified due to different racial issues that have been approaching the media in other school systems. I think it may have been handled with lesser repercussions if it happened at a different time.
