This video is no surprise, it is like second nature to me. The reason being is that I lived in places like what is show on the video, [Queens, New York, El Paso, Texas, and in East Los Angeles/Compton, California, and Atlanta/Bank head, Georgia] Even though I lived in what most see as ghetto/project/barrio it is a place were you have to hold your own, and go against your own morals and ethics.
I remember when I was younger I had to walk around with a ice pick, knife, or even a gun at time because you never knew if you would have to use one, for your own protection, which as a child know one should have to go through that, and was it right or wrong at the time I would say yes and no. the reason why because I was a kid, and I didn't know the repercussions of my actions if i was to use them. Instead of using a weapon i would rather fight with the fist, it didn't matter how old the person was i was a child fighting men in the 20-30's, but hey gave me the respect because I stood up to them. I can recall the first time I got shot at, and chased for being in the wrong neighborhood.
Walking to school was a challenge in itself because of the local dope man always trying to sell me dope. I remember some of my neighbor getting rolled out on a stretcher for overdosing on heroin. The first fight getting into and having a brick thrown at my face, fracturing my cheek left cheek bone, and ripping and splitting my cheek.
In San Antonio, about five years ago i had to identify a close friends body, because no one was able to do it because of fear, he committed suicide by overdosing on a verity of pills, and alcohol, dying right in front of his refrigerator with Pepsi bottle in his hand. Despite all of these obstacles I made it to were i am at today, for a reason..
