Although this class is pretty much all about forensic psychology, I wanted to know what exactly forensic psychologists do with their job. I found a website that explains it well. Forensic psychologists can be employed and prisons, law enforcement agencies, or hospitals. They're job is to help out people in the law workforce that aren't specialized in psychology. Forensic psychologists can help to narrow down the suspect pool in a crime by figuring out their motives based on things involved in the crime. They do this by creating a personality profile. Forensic psychologists use their knowledge of human behavior and the law in their career. It's definitely an important and interesting job!

I found this website particularly interesting because it highlights all the ways someone with a psychology degree can be involved in the legal field. This website hosted a list of various jobs forensic psychologists do and I was surprised at just how many different areas forensic psychology is a part of in our legal field. Personally I feel that it would be interesting to use forensic psychology to work in a correctional facility in order to attempt to control psychological disorders that may have led them to end up in prison. This definitely would not be the easiest job on earth but I do believe in criminal rehabilitation (despite what I learned from John Douglas) and would like to see more criminals being rehabilitated to functioning members of society. If I remember right, I think the U.S. holds the lead for % of its country’s population in prison, which is kind of a depressing statistic if it’s true. As an economist, that % means that there are a certain portion of people that are willing and able to work and are behind bars that could be rehabilitated to some sort of functioning citizen. Instead of our tax dollars going to keeping these people behind bars, it should be working towards their rehabilitation so they can continue to work and aid in society.
