Pediatrician accused of sexually abusing 103 children

This article is about a pediatrician from Delaware who has been accused of sexually abusing 103 children.  This article stood out to me because it shows how people can be so messed up that they will use their job to satisfy their sick obsessions.  The article said that there has been video tapes found so the man is going to be charged without a doubt.  It also said that the man's mental health will be questioned to see how he is charged. I understand that people can suffer from serious mental illnesses but i just don't see how they can blame all 103 cases on this man's mental health.

Obviously we'll have to wait and see what evidence appears in trail, but it sounds like it's stacked against him. However, if they can blame one case on mental health, they can blame them all on mental health. If there's something wrong with your mind once, chances are it won't be the only time that it manifests itself and you are likely to repeat it until you are caught.

I watched this on the news last night and the first thing i thought when i saw his photo was that he looked like a pervert, but you can't tell by how people look. The second thing I thought was, as far as I can remember everytime i have been to the doctor when i was a child my mother never left me alone with a doctor and if she did i probably whould have been terrified. I almost think there is a policy that children under a certain age must be accompinied by an adult. The majority of the children abused were 2 and 3 . Who would let a stranger (Peditrician) be alone with there child at that age? What makes this so horrible is because a person in a position of power has the ability to get people to go along with things because they etablished that sense of authority. Imagine the children this happened to some of them will think that all doctors are sickos and develop a sense of mistrust for the whole medical community. Secondly there also going to mistrust there parents because their thought process might go something like this, "my parents are suppose to protect me and they brought me to a guy who did this to me " I think if this story had been a bout some homeless guy or something doing the same thing it wouldnt have as much psychological impact on the media. Everyone probably remebers that female teacher who had an intimate relationship with her 13 year old student and had one child with him while she was in prison and was then released and had 3 more children with him it even became a lifetime movie. The whole point is that when cases like this happen it shatters peoples schemas that all doctors and teachers are good people and that you can never trust anyone simply because of their authority.

I find it crazy that no little kid spoke out and told his/her parents about this. I know they were little, but you'd assume that someone would say something. Another thing I don't get is how the perv did this because you'd think the parents would be in the room. I listened to the tape, and read the article, but maybe I missed the part where it said the ages. I don't know how some guy could sexually abuse children, it's pathetic and terrible.

When I read this story, this didn't really brought me into disbelief, sick people like this guy here do exist and have been existing for a long time and sadly will always exist. What brought me into anger is not only what this guy did to those children but the fact that the children were left alone! It's like are serious?! That sick man is still a human, it does not matter if he's charming, works well with children, or even if he has a degree, you don't ever let your child out of your sight. One even bigger thing that got me really upset, is that seven or nine years ago the police and the attorney general kept getting complaints about this man and for the same thing. In the video that was provided along with this artcle it said that the attorney general at the time said along the lines of, "He's a good man, he wouldn't do anything bad." What is that? Instead of her doing her job she decided to pass judgement not based on evidence but based on her gut feelings? I am glad that they are investigating that part of the story also. I am glad that they are going to find out who was incharge of that complaint? Why was that complaint not investigated? Why did they let this go on for so many years? Are those people going to be charged? If so, what are they going to be charged with? What will be the maximum sentece for not carrying out a serious case such as this one? These people are just lucky that this guy was dumb enough hace videos, it sucks knowing that he will be pleading mentally ill because he will just end up getting a reduced sentencing. I just hope these children grow up with better common sense.

I do not find it shocking that parents would leave their child alone with a pediatrician, because those doctors are trusted authorities, it is similar to leaving your child with a trusted baby-sitter or a teacher. A child can be abused by anyone. It is unfamiliar to many, but plausible and I do not think the parents should be at fault in this case. However disappointing it is, I think parents need to be constantly vigilant in regards to their child being abused in this present age.

Pediatrician's are people that we are suppose to trust. They tell us if our children are healthy, and what to do if they are not. So, in his position as a pediatrician I can see how he could get away with SOME accusations of sexually abusing children, but when there are 103 children then it becomes more believable. I just wonder how many of those children told their parents something about being sexually abused early on in the years that he started, and if so why didn't the parents come out with the actions earlier.

I think that is bad about this case is the fact that it went on for 10 years! No one would bring his actions to justice before that? If someone would have brought charges on him in the beginning years then maybe some of those 103 children may have been saved from the sexual abuse.

Also, one of the thoughts that I had from reading this is how come the parents left their children alone? I would think that part of this could be the fact that the parents were not in the room, had they been they could have stopped the abuse on their child. But this brings me back to the first point that pediatrician's are people that we are suppose to trust.

I guess this just leads me to believe that we cannot trust everyone all of the time, even pediatricians, doctors, nurses, anyone. But this does not mean that all of those people will abuse children, it just means that we need to be careful who we trust.

People like this disgust me. Actually, anyone who can take deliberate advantage of a child disgusts me. According to:
http://abcnews.go.com/WN/delaware-pediatrician-earl-bradley-indicted-103-counts-sexual/story?id=9921990
the parents waited in the other room while their children were raped and molested. Knowing kids though, i'm sure they told their parents something. No amount of threats ever keeps a child quiet- i have a six year old sister who-regardless of threats- will tell my parents anything and everything i say or do. I agree with one of the previous comments though. What parent lets their child go in without them? No parent!
In the website i listed above it says that his innitial charges were only 33--- now its more than tripled to where it is now. Not delivering an excuse, but we should keep in mind what we've learned in class. I'm not saying he's innocent by a long shot i'm jsut saying maybe he's not as guilty as we say. Ideas could have been planted in the kid's minds to eventually cause them to agree with what they're saying was done to them. Granted, some lucivious acts were video taped so i'm sure those will be hands-down charges against him.
I do think his mental stability should be disregarded in court. He's not mentally disturbed- he's sick and deserves life in prison. That's my thought anyway.
