Have you ever seen the Oscar winning film, Milk? This article is about the man (Dan White) who murdered the San Francisco mayor, George Moscone, and the board supervisor, Harvey Milk. This case gained notoriety not only because the first openly gay official was murdered but also because many media agencies reported that White beat the murder conviction by using an insanity plea (stating that he ate too much junk food which made him insane). The media nicknamed this defense tactic as the Twinkie Defense.

I recall watching this movie for Behavior & Emotion if I'm not mistaken. I feel that this article shows flaws in our justice system. Dan White went off the deep end because his job was taken from him and he blamed Harvey Milk for this occurrence. From what I recall Dan White's defense did in fact work, however, after serving time in jail for voluntary manslaughter, White was found dead with the car running in his ex-wife's garage. Along with losing his family White couldn't take the idea of not being a Supervisor for the city of San Francisco.
