Munchausen's Syndrome By Proxy (MSBP) is a form of child abuse that often times is not caught by social services, law enforcement, or other reporting agencies. This is because the behavior of the offender (typically the child's mother) doesn't fit the stereotype we imagine a child abuser to have. MSBP is a disorder where the abuser will purposely fain or sometimes cause a child's illness so that the child must receive medical care (usual hospitalization). This is so the abuser may gain sympathy and attention from others and receive praise for being such a "good parent."
The article above describes the characteristics of both victim and abuser, warning signs to look for, and how to properly investigate a case where MSBP may be a suspicion.

There was a infamous mother named marie noe who had lost 10 babies apparently 2 from natural causes but the police didn't catch on for a long time just labeling each infants death as unfortunate SIDS. Why would a woman kill all of her children? They claim that she was mentally ill which obviously you would have to be and she claims she was abused as a child but it also seems as though she enjoyed the attention from the nurses and other people when the children passed away. It is scary how people are willing to hurt others in order to seek attention it happens with children, elderly, and other dependents. I remember reading about a child who was in the hospital for a broken arm and them being sick and almost died when a nurse caught one of the parents suffocating the child. In the movie the sixth sense I think thats what the mother was doing. Also some people dont have MSBP but make their kids sick to recieve money like a family a few years back who convinced their own child and the community that she had a terminal form of leykemia and held a bunch of fund raisers and collected tons of money. I think people like that should not be left unsupervised with children ever just as with sex offenders. There is a statndard protocol for people who work with children on a regular basis such as teachers doctors daycare staff their called mandatory reporters. Anytime a child has a suspicious injury or acts a certain way they are to look into it. Like the time I went to the emergency room for breaking my arm they kept questioning me how it happened like they were making sure it was an accident.
