Another one could be The Juror.

My room mate and I recently went on a "classics" binge and watched old movies. I am glad to find To Kill a Mockingbird on the movie list because it is a classic in this field. I like the "classic-tale" of white helping black in the old-days. I recently re-read the book too which delivers a good description of the movie (visa-versa). Atticus Finch delivers a stand-up roll in the movie where he simply shows where taking the right side is always taking the best side. It's also a tell-tale story of where good will always overcome bad in the end. The movie takes you through most components of the legal system with: judge, jury, investigation, trial, defense, plaintiff, etc. Its a very good replication of the law system- if not today- then back then.

Another movie I recently watched which is not on the list but maybe should be is The Green Mile. The Green Mile is a story about a death row inmate in the 1930's in the southern U.S. An inmate who is a big, black, scary looking man who is 6+ feet tall and muscular wall- so to speak. Sadly, the man was wrongly convicted- because of race- and has a mindset of a child who wouldn't hurt a thing. The inmate is in prison for the murder of two young children. Mr. Coffey- the inmate- has a gift, or a power, that enables him to help others and sense the guilty from the innocent. The death row guards face a moral dilemma about whether or not to really proceed with the killings of mr. Coffey. Even though he is innocent he insists they do it- because it is their job. I bawl every time I watch this movie and advise anyone who hasn't seen it to do so! It is touching and amazing in the underlying message that gets delivered.

Another great possibility to watch and comment about is the new movie "Shutter Island."

I just watched the movie that was made about the book I read for this class. Denzel Washington plays the role of infamous Rubin Carter in the movie "The Hurricane." Rubin Carter was convicted of triple murder and spent 22 years in prison for a murder he did not commit.

The movie was pretty good...but as always, the book was better!
