Expert Topic Blog 2/24

My expert topic is girl gangs. A couple semesters ago, I took a Youth Gangs class as part of my Criminology major and I found it to be extremely interesting. The majority of information we covered was about males and their roles in gangs so I wanted to do a little more research on females’ roles in gangs. So far, I have been simply browsing the web for site, articles, etc on general information about female gangs and these are some of the links I’ve found…

During this week, I have slowly reading through all the information I gathered last week and have begun the note taking process. This weekend, I plan on watching a video about girl gangs on the show Gangland as well as the video on the History Channel.

On Tuesday this week we had class disscusion on intergroup violence/gang violence which went right along with my expert topic. After watching the episode of Gangland in class, I went back on netflix and watched a couple more episodes: Season 2 Episode 12 "From Girl to Gangster", Season 6 Episode 9 "Mile High Killers".
I've started developing ideas for a brochure that will incorporate information about the history of girl gangs, why girls join, and more importantly the prevention/intervention program I will pretend to sell to the class.

This week I have been working on my final project. I'm thinking of making a brochure at this point but if that doesn't seem to be working out after this weekend, I might have to change it up!

This week, I am putting the final touches on my final project blog. So far, I think my brochure is coming together nicely! Making brochures are harder than I anticipated!
