This is an interesting site that makes small pieces of foam board look like full size buildings. What do we know about our perceptual system that can explain how this happens?

The principle of relative size allows our brain to assume that these houses are the same size as all the other houses we've ever seen. We see that the houses are arranged in a familiar fashion and their sizes seem to be consistent with each other and the sky so there is no reason for our brain to assume that the houses are any other size than the houses we have seen in the past.
