Have you wondered why sometimes when you are in a room you mood changes? Is it the climate or the lack of plants, what about the color?
I found this site when looking for colors to paint my house back home. I found that greens and dark purples seem to motivate me the most. I haven't used orange yet, which helps you get going with exercising. If you pay attention to the setting you are in and the mood you are in, could it be the color on the walls?

After checking this out, which colors do you think would help in class rooms? I would prefer the walls in my dorms to be more than this off white or cream color and maybe I would do more than sulk in there.
I felt this article was interesting. After reading through the descriptions of the colors and how they make you feel it is easy to see. The idea that blue can bring off a cold feeling is something that I have never really considered before. There are a lot of ideas that someones favorite color can tell a lot about the person and according to this article it may hold true for room colors.
I think Green would be a good color for classrooms. It gives off a calming feeling however, the color seems to stimulate people brains. As far as the dorms- they definitely need to be another color besides cream or white. The cream and white does not make you feel comfortable or motive people to settle down and focus on homework!
My high school painted one wall in every room either blue or green. They thought that somehow having an accent wall would help 14-18 year olds concentrate. It may have been a good thought, but the green and blue that were chosen were awful somewhat neutral and were mostly ignored. I think that it would have been more effective if the colors had been brighter - able to keep students awake - as opposed to the shades used.
Color does not seem to satisfy any psychological or social need, but it may be able to play on emotions, which may be how it has the desired effect of calming or exciting. Many colors have symbolic meanings which may be brought to mind when a room is painted in that color. For example gold has always symbolized wealth and status, so by seeing gold accents in a room an executive may be reminded of his need for power and achievement.
I agree with Emily that the dull cream and white of the dorm rooms should be changed. No one wants to live in a world that is muted - it makes me restless oddly enough. I do not think that anyone will listen to out suggestion to make the on-campus housing more lively though.
I found it really interesting that different colors can have such dramatically different influences on a person’s mood. I guess I never really had taken to time or even thought about how color could have such an impact on a person’s mood. In a classroom setting I would have to agree that green would be a good color, but so would blue. Green would help the students feel comfortable in the classroom, and bring the students together. Blue would help to relax a student which would be great for students during an examination. I also agree that the dorm rooms need to have some color to them. If I had to choose a color for the dorm rooms I would pick green, as this article also says that green helps to reduce stress. As college students we always need to have stress reducers so what would be better than having a color in the dorms that would help to reduce stress. I will definitely have to keep this website in mind for the future when deciding what colors to paint rooms in my own home.
I found this website www.fractal.org/Bewustzijns-Besturings-Model/Nature-of-emotions.htm where at the top of the website it has a diagram about what color is associated with what mood. At this website I found it very interesting that different shades of the same color could have such different meanings.
This article was interesting. I would agree with the descriptions placed to each color. i feel like brighter colors tend to energize me and make me happier while blues and greens are very calming to me. I found an article on clothing colors and mood that was also neat and it coincides with the descriptions given in this article.
