Four Simple Secrets to Feeling Happier

I liked this article because for one I think a lot of people are getting cabin fever, they are ready for sunshine and nice warm weather.  Let's face it, when a winter gets too long and cold we get grumpy.  Stress and how we cope with stress is a key factor in feeling happier.  How we react to events can make a difference in our lives.  With midterms going on things around all of us can get very stressful.  Take a deep breath and try these four things.
-Too much of a good thing, is a bad thing
-Now is the moment.  Enjoy it!
-Find your mouse hole
-Conflict can be okay
What do you do to be happy?  What relieves your stress?

Wouldn't everyone Like to be more fulfilled or happy?
Though everyone forgets about how good they have it often. Cognitive dissonance can come in many forms, and when its present, people aren't fulfilled and as happy as they could be.

The claim that you can significantly increase your level of happiness simply by adopting new ways of thinking is a pretty big claim. While I agree your perception, reception and attitude about a situation can have considerable impact on how an event is received, the provided techniques may not work for everyone, because of the different needs across individuals.

The tips are:
1: Too much of a good thing is a band thing.
-The description reads basically take care of yourself before others, that it is not necessarily a bad thing.
Well, depending on peoples social needs and intrinsic motivation, being selfless may be a large part of fulfillment and being happy to a person.

2. Now is the moment enjoy it!
-The description basically says don't rush to your destination enjoy the whole experience.

3.Find your "mouse hole"
- Everyone needs alone time.
I know I feel best and most fulfilled and happy when around people. So I would much rather be around when my roommate is even if we aren't interacting then simply by myself.

4.Conflict can be ok.
Well. Some people can stand conflict in any way shape or form. Even adjusting the attitude about it will not fix this.

Overall, different social contexts support psychological needs for different people.

While these tips may be a quick fix for some, I definitely believe that there is more to achieve and discover in order to reach an high level of self-efficacy. There are too many individual differences.

To further this point...
What do I do to be happy? Play guitar.
What do I do to relive stress: Go out to the bars w/ friends.

I am definitely feeling the effects of winter, and call it cabin fever or the wintertime blues, I need to feel the warm sunshine on my face and the green grass between my toes. Maybe because this semester isn't terribly difficult for me, but I don't necessarily feel overwhelmingly sad; it's more of a restless and/or anxious feeling that only some outdoor physical activity can satisfy. I am one who does not make an effort to hit up the WRC and work out for a specified amount of time. I blame my inactivity on the weather, saying to myself, "I'll get some exercise in when the weather freshens up." This is my last semester as a college undergrad. Not only am I experiencing the wintertime blues, but I also suffer from symptoms of "senioritis". A combination of the above two criteria equals something-not-so-satisfactory. In an effort to relieve my winter stresses I quickly turn to videogames, often times to excess. Unfortunately, this time spent playing heavy doses of videogames takes away from moments of potential creativity, reading, social bonding, and future planning. Maybe it's more natural to seclude myself in the winter, kind of like a form of hibernation. That's my excuse anyway, even though I know it falls under the first category of "too much of a good thing is a bad thing".

I really feel that this winter season has put a lot of stress on many people differently. I think that the reason why I was affected a lot is because I am applying for grad schools and waiting patiently for the letters to come, but other than that I rather enjoy the winter. Not saying that I enjoy the cold weather that comes along with the snow, but I do understand the need to enjoy yourselves when you are in a place that incorporates indoor time as the primary place to be.

-But to go on to the points, yes to much of a good thing is a bad thing, for instance sleep. To much sleep and you are way to tired the rest of the day, but to little and you are just the same and even more emotional.

-Enjoying the moment is hard to do especially when you have to catch up on work or class, but enjoying the time that you get to spend not doing that can relieve lots of stress, believe me, I try.

-Finding a mouse hole, funny way of wording it, but I tend to go to the Union and sit behind chats where the windows are, put on my ipod and study or read. Just being there by the window in a chair with music and coffee, puts me in a state of relaxation, which also motivates me to read my chapters or do my work.

-Conflict, well it happens and if you have small disagreements then I think you are okay, because that can relieve pent up stress, but blowing up on someone is definitely not okay.

-What I do to be happy is I dance, ALONE, in my room. I enjoy this and it makes me smile or laugh, i do some crazy things.
-What relaxes me, is rearranging my room after a stressful day. This does two things for me, I get to release all my fustrations out of moving everything around, and I feel like I am in a new enviorment, which also helps me study better. My room changes a lot and my friends never know what to expect when walking in. They think I am a little Compulsive about it as well. But that could be because I am a person who has a need for control and when I don't get that, I control my surroundings, and the only things I can control in that is my own personal belongins.

Reading these four steps just simply reminds me that you have to enjoy the little things in life. You can't take life to seriously otherwise you lose sight of what is really important. I think these four steps could be beneficial during finals week for those time that you have three tests and two projects due in one week and a crazy work schedule!
What do I do to be Happy? I enjoy watching the TV show Friends mainly because it makes me laugh; or I hang out with my friends! Having a social support group always makes you feel happy and now alone. When I am stressed I result to working out. In the past I used to boycott going to the WRC during finals week because I had so much to do it seemed pointless. Now, during finals week is when i make an attempt to go there all four days. taking time out to work on some steam can really relieve some stress and make me study more effective. I think it is important for everyone to have those one or two things that make them feel happy and relieve stress!

Reading these steps it seemed quite obvious that to stay happy you must take time for yourself, do not overbook your schedule, enjoy the little things in life, and realize it is okay to have conflict in your life. Although these steps seem pretty simple and self-explanatory, they are crucial to staying happy and staying in control of your life. Looking back onto stressful periods in my life, I realized I simply stopped taking care of myself and gave in to stressful pressures. I quit doing things for myself, stop enjoying my life, and I feel as if I do not have enough time in the day to get everything done.

What makes me happy is spending time with my family and friends, laughing at stupid jokes, and eating ice cream. I love spending time with my family and friends because they realize I am not a serious person, I enjoy laughing and enjoying life in general. These people know how to make me feel less stressed and realize in order to keep my sanity I have to make time for myself. In order for me to relieve my stress, I like to work out or color. Although I do not always do these activities when I have a lot on my plate, I realize the importance of continuing my daily routine. Working out or coloring helps me regain my confidence and self-efficacy. It is just a little break in my day I spend for myself. I do not worry about others or homework.
