I have a friend that recently had a baby and she was one of the lucky girls who loses pregnancy weight fast. She was already slender before her pregnancy which probably has to do with it too, but she mentioned how she exercised while pregnant. So I decided to research the topic, everything points to this benefiting you and your baby. As long as it's done in moderation, you avoid contact sports (obviously), and you keep cool and hydrated. Studies have shown that if you get overheated in the early months while working out you may cause birth defects to your baby. So where light clothing and drink lots of water. Swimming, water aerobics, and yoga are some of the three best sports to participate in while pregnant. They don't out too much stress on the baby. This article also stated how if you don't work our regularly before the pregnancy and want to start after, you need to take it slower than others.
I am one of the 20 to 30 percent of woman who does exercise and I fully plan to exercise when I am pregnant. It is not hopefully going to happen for some years to come because I´m only 21, and still have a lot to do ahead of me, but I do want to have a family of my own someday. My mom had twins when she was in her later 30s and she would do a lot of walking, which is a step down actually from her usual cross country runner past, but equally she did it to stay healthy and she had two babies to worry about. My mom proudly was working until the day that she had the twins, which is very rare for someone who is older for child-bearing. There was actually a lady she was working with who was in her late 20s at the time carrying twins and was put on bedrest for a month before she had a c-section with her children. Ironically enough, she had Hunter and Harrison on March 8 that year and my mom had Haley and Matt on March 9 this next day. I´m not sure if the other lady exercised or not, but I see that my mom had the better deal out of it all, though both women were very healthy (especially since they both work in the health field). Nice article!
