Motivational Songs

The above article talks about the top ten motivational songs. Some of the songs I agree with and believe they do motivate you while listening (Eye of the Tiger- Survivor). Other songs however, seemed to be more inspirational (Tomorrow- Annie), which leads to the question is motivational different than inspirational? And is there actually a way to find a song that motivates all individuals or are motivational songs a personal preference?

That's an interesting article/top ten! I,too, thought that some songs on that list were not so much motivational as they are inspiring. Take 'You Are So Beautiful' for example, I really do not see how that's a "motivating song". I don't think it is possible to find a song that can be sure to motivate everyone because of different tastes in music and different motivational needs, but I do see some accuracy or validity in most of the songs chosen to be on this list.

To the question is motivational different than inspirational, I found an article that talked about the two. It said that motivation and inspiration can be seen as two of the same thing when put together. The article refers having motivation and inspiration as interchangable, and that the words and meanings have an effect on the way we think. It says that inspiration is pretty much the backbone of motivation. For instance, I listen to music when I work out, certain songs motivate me to keep working out (Eye of the Tiger), but I am inspired to work out, because I want to get in shape and for health reasons. If I wasnt inspired to work out for reasons, then I would not be motivated by the music I am listening to.
I believe that the two do have similar meanings and can be used interchangable at times, but it all depends on how the person is viewing motivation and inspiration for themselves.

I believe that motivational songs are a personal preference. No matter the genre, a motivational song is a motivational song. Some may think that it is motivational to have someone sing “Mass Murder Makes Me Happy “by ICP or “God bless the Child” by Billie Holiday. Hopefully some motivational songs don’t inspire others to partake in there motivational words.

Take the band, Catasexual Urge Motivation, what motivated them to name their group this? What motivated them to write the music that they did? What motivates others to listen to their music?

That really is a unique top ten list. I find it interesting what motivates/inspires one person may have a completely different impression on another. Some of the songs on this list I can really relate to the emotion the author probably feels and others not so much. Eye of the Tiger for example is a motivating song to me. I'd also bet the farm that Survivor was knocking on Sly Stallone's door asking if he was working on any other movies they could contribute a song to. I Will Survive makes me want to turn on the disco ball and grab my,my,my,my,my boogie shoes but I'm not much of a dancer. It's still a song that gets the blood flowing though. What a Wonderful World. Come on. Anyone who can sing in a deep, raspy, gravely voice like that deserves to be on any list ever made. Wedding lists, funeral lists, shopping lists..it doesn't matter the skies are blue and the trees are green. Soak it in.
