This course will expose students to the science and practice of meditation. Scientific research on meditation has uncovered benefits associated with meditation practice including better memory, focused attention, reduced stress, improved health and sleep, and increases in creativity and insight. Neuroscience methods have explored brain areas and mechanism responsible for these benefits. In this course, students will read original scientific literature from psychology and neuroscience on meditation as well as learn about and practice meditation techniques.
