This video relates best to humor that relates to stereotyping and prejudice. Many of the comedian's jokes make fun of a particular stereotype about a particular group of people. When the comedian was talking about country people, it is necessary for the listener to have a basic understanding of the stereotypes for country people before the listener would be able to resolve the incongruity of the joke in order to "get" the joke. The Salience Hypothesis argues that that people do not need to agree with the stereotypes in order to enjoy these types of disparaging jokes, and they are not to be considered inherently aggressive or offensive. For this reason, the audience is able to laugh at the prejudice jokes made by the comedian without feeling a sense of guilt.
However, Zillmann and Cantor's (1976) dispositional theory claims that people enjoy jokes that disparage a particular group of people when they have negative attitudes toward that group or if they have positive attitudes toward the source of the disparagement. This might explain why some people find religious jokes, for example, to be more funny when the person telling the joke is of the same religion he or she is stereotyping. I believe the reason for this is because it makes people feel more safe about the jokes that are being said without creating any feelings of hostility from someone taking something wrong.
This comedian is using a type of humor that utilizes a disparaging form of humor. The comedian uses stereotypes and prejudices to create shock value for his audience. It is debated whether or not disparaging jokes result in negative attitudes of the listeners after hearing the jokes, but these types of jokes are found to be socially acceptable. I personally do not think this humor was exceptionally vulgar, but it is possible that certain people may perceive these types of jokes as offensive.
