What do you think would be an interesting time or event to witness? What do you think these old men are up to?

I think that in the 1920s when the cognitive development of children was being looked at would have been a really interesting time to have seen. New things are continually discovered, even now in 2011. However, the initial discovering/looking into the development of children and their minds would be fascinating. To realize that in a short amount of time how much things can change and how things would differ between each child would be interesting to have seen firsthand!
I think it would be most interesting to meet Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, in the 1900's. I would love for him to pick apart my dreams to understand my personality and surface any urges or impulses I may have hiding.
I think an interesting time in history would be in 1896 when the first psychology clinic was opened. After only working on experimental work, it would be cool to see how the first clinic actually functioned. It would imagine it would be significantly different from what we see now because of the advancements that have been made since that time. I would just like to see what kinds of things went on in the clinics. What kinds of techniques did the psychologists use and so on.
It is difficult to tell what these men may be up to. If I had to guess it would be that they are discussing their thoughts on different approaches to psychology? Another guess would be that they are experimenting with whatever device that may be on the table.. It is hard to tell because by the looks of it, they don't seem to be too productive.
I think an interesting time to visit would be when Freud came up with the idea of what dreams meant. I would love to know his thought process of how he determined such things. So many questions I'd want to ask him. I have used some of the dream books to look and see what some of my dreams mean but I don't understand how he makes the connections he did between certain things. I'm not excatly sure what these men are doing, it looks like some sort of invention is sitting in front them. It could quite possibly what freud reasoned with to come up with his conclusions about what dreams really mean.
An interesting time to visit or event would be Piaget's research on developmental psychology. Developmental psych is still a growing field and to have discovered trends in that area would have been a really fascinating thing
I know I've mentioned Freud before, but I just think he is so interesting and I just want to know where he came up with his ideas and beliefs of psychoanalysis, dream interpretation, and all of the other stuff he is associated with in psychology. I would really like to go back to the extremely late 1800's when he was developing his ideas on dream interpretation and hear his ideas on what the heck I was dreaming about. I am sure a majority of it would have to do with me being envious of men and wanting a penis, considering the time period and the position of women in soceity. However, I think it would still be fascinating to go back and talk with him, knowing what I know presently of course.
I think the most interesting time to be around would have been around 1896. This is the time when things like fundamentalism, psychoanalysis, and structuralism was coming about. At this time things were on a roll and moving very fast in psychology and all of this new research was coming out that gave so many people a new outlook on how their minds worked and perhaps how simple (or even how complex) our minds are. I think it'd be most interesting to be around when Freud was coming up with his theories because they are so bizarre and so interesting. It was probably a lot to understand and wrap people's minds around that some of the fundamental things about who we are lie within our subconscious minds and that there are ways that we can access them.
I am in agreement with some of my other colleges and would like to meet Sigmund Freud. He is such a famous psychologist and his ideas were very intuitive, but also really weird and kind of far off. I would really like to have been a part of the experimentation and the thought process that lead to his conclusions and theories.
