Reading Activity Week #1 (Due Tuesday)

Welcome to the bmod class. We would like you to spend a little time orienting yourself with the class blog site. Please read the course description on the 'Home Page.' Go to the 'Blog' and check out the types of assignments you will be doing over the semester. Check out the book 'ABCs' of Behavior Modification and see if the chapters download OK on the computer you are using. Look over the 'Syllabus' pages and make sure you understand what we will be doing this semester as it relates to the syllabus (Class schedule, Course Requirements, & Grading rubrics).

You should already have a temporary blog username and password for you to use, if not please email Dr. MacLin to get yours (or to have him resend yours - otto.maclin@uni.edu). You will receive an email later in the week showing you how to get a permanent username and password.

Now click on the comment link (above), sign in and leave a comment. If you are using a temporary username make sure to put your intials at the top of your entry. In particular please state in your comment that that you basically went through the website, home page, syllabus, online book. That you understand the class schedule & course requirements and that you read through all sections of the syllabus.

Based on your experience reading through the website, please let us know if you have any questions, if there is anything you don't understand or if you experienced any problems.

Thanks!

I have read through the site, and feel like I have a pretty good understanding of how this semester is going to go. I looked through the textbook and read a bit of the section on Skinner. I found it to be clear, informative, and enjoyable to read!
I look forward to this semester!

I looked through the website and everything looks okay. I was able to open all of the documents and look through portions of the book.

HI

This is my 2nd hybrid class with Dr. MacLin this semester. I have always preferred online classes to actual lectures, because I find I retain a lot more information on my own. I'm excited to work with you all and read what you have to say, in order to help me form my own opinions. All of my links are working well. I'm happy to be able to have a chance to try a couple of hybrid classes, and I'm looking forward to challenging myself this semester!

ACB
The course syllabus is clear and left me with no questions. I am very excited to have the hybrid class. The combination of online and in class work give the class the best of both worlds!

I.A.

Had some trouble logging in, but once that got fix I was able to navigate the website without any problems. This is my first hybrid class and I'm interested to how it goes. Some of the topics we are going to be covering sound awesome and I look forward to studying more in depth over them.

M.N.G

This is my second hybrid class with Dr. MacLin and I also used a similar site with the other Dr. MacLin for careers in psychology. I feel really comfortable using this site and hope to expand my knowledge of behavior modification this semester.

S.A.H
Beings I took Motivation and Emotion with the other Dr. MacLin I am already familiar with the website. It was easy to navigate through the different pages and find the textbook and syllabus. I did have a minor panic attack when I couldn’t open the links for the book and syllabus but realized that with my web browser I have to open the links in a different web page crisis resolved!

I had no trouble navigating through the website, the links work fine, and I believe I understand the syllabus and look forward to this class!

I had a little trouble logging in, but after that was fixed I was able to use the website easily. The links work fine and everything else is easy to understand.

T.E.

Everything is clear and easy to understand and I had no trouble navigating through the class website.

ECS
Taking History Systems with Dr. MacLin has already made me comfortable with the hybrid style of class. All of the links and attachments opened for me. I'm looking forward to having another hybrid class.

K.C.
I have read through the syllabus and understand what is required of me in this class. I have taken a class like this before and look forward to learning about Behavior Modification and blogging with my fellow students. This blog post is late because I had some problems with the login. After Dr. Maclin fixed the problem I had no other troubles with the website.

J.H.

I read through the syllabus and was able to open the readings without any trouble. I have taken a hybrid class somewhat similar to this before and for the most part I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to this semester.

I've read through the syllabus and navigated the site. I've been in a hybrid class before and enjoyed it quite alot! Looking forward to your class.

A.S.
I have read through the syllabus, could open the readings and did not have trouble, and understand how to navigate the site. I am looking forward to taking this class.

S.S.S.
I had a little trouble logging in, but that is all fixed now (hopefully). I've read through the syllabus and introduction. I was able to check out a few of the ABC's and all links are working. I understand how this class will work this semester.

C.H.

I have toured the online website and I have become familiar with the layout and important information. The website is very user-friendly and self-explanatory as to completing assignments. I have read/accessed the course requirements, class schedule, grading rubric, and the online text material. In addition, I have read the material from previous classes to gain a better understanding of what to expect this semester. I am looking forward to gaining a better understanding of myself and those around me.

M.L.B.
I had 'invalid login' prompts yesterday. Today the sign in name and password is working for me. I have read the syllabus, and I understand how to navigate the blog, the text, and website in general. Ready!!

M.S.
I had some problems logging in but I think I understand what I'm doing now! I've read the syllabus and browsed the blog and website. The text book links all work. Using the website shouldn't be a problem!

AAF

I had some difficulties trying to open the textbook, but I finally got it figured out! Everything seems clear and easy to follow. I am looking forward to my first hybrid class.

I went through the home page but the syllabus and online book will not open their links. I understand the class schedule.
JMB

I checked out all of the main tabs (home page, syllabus, online book). I was able to read everything except I notice that when I use my personal laptop any link underneath the Syllabus tab will not load. It's probably on my end for not updating something. I have a fairly good understanding of the course and how to use the website. This course reminds me of one I took at Buena Vista University called Learning and Memory because we spent a large amount of time learning behavior modification, classical & operant conditioning, schedules of reinforcement, etc. Bring it on!

JRG

BNJ

I looked through the website and documents are opening just fine. I've never had a hybrid class before but looking forward to the experience. My only question is why is there 3 hours of requirements for finals week? I thought finals blocks were 2 hours. Just curious. Otherwise I feel good about this course and hopefully it doesn't disappoint! Also the schedule seems legit.

A.J.B.

I have searched and explored the site as you have mentioned above. Although I have not been able to explore the online textbook as of yet. I am very much looking forward to actively participating your hybrid class!

R.L.S
Looking through your website, I found the items very accessible and clear. Last semester I took your wife's Psychology and Law class so I am fairly with the layout and how the website works. I think this class will be enjoyable and I look forward to the new content

MKH
I like the idea of having the textbook online. All of my other books are ebooks and it has saved me alot of money and it saves my back. I've never been in a hybrid class but I have had regular classes (obviously) and an online class, but nothing with the two combined. I'm interested in seeing how this semester will go...

JRB

After looking over everything in the course I am excited to try my first hybrid class. I have taken online classes and I felt a little lost sometimes. I think the hybrid class with meet both my objectives. I like the fact that things arent due exactly at midnight because, like you said, this is not a new day to me. I am glad we have reference assignments in case we ever get confused on what we should be doing.

CRP

I was able to find everything just fine on the wedsite. Im not sure if im doing something wrong or what, but the syllabus didnt load when using my laptop. Other than that I feel comfortable using the website and find it to be useful.

MLR

I have gone through the course site and was able to find everything ok. I have been in 2 of Kim's hybrid classes and I am looking foreward to taking one of yours. Should be a good semester.

After looking through the site i have a decent grasp on how things are going to work, obviously as the semester goes on ill pick up on more things about the site but so far it seems simple enough. This is my first hybrid course and im looking forward to this method of teaching. Id much rather be coached then drilled!

W.J.

MLH

Behavior Modification should be a very interesting and fun area of exploration this semester. All of the links are running properly and I am able to navigate the page fairly well. I have completed a hybrid class with Kim several semesters ago and I really enjoyed the autonomous learning approach style of teaching. I'm looking forward to getting started!

K.B.K.

I looked through the course site and have a good grasp on how the it works. I looked at the syllabus and understand it. The online book loaded just fine on my computer. I have taken a hybrid class before so I understand what I need to do throughout the semester. I really enjoyed this type of learning!

PCL

I have read through the syllabus and have taken a hybrid course before. I am hoping for a good semester!

BE

I read through the site and feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the assignments we are suppose to do and how the grading scale works.

AV

I have taken a hybrid class before so I am familiar with how to use this website. All of my book links are installing just fine. I am excited to be in this class and I love how you can always go back to the website to look at discussions about a specific topic.

MK

I have never taken a hybrid class before but once I took a look at things on the website I got the hang of it pretty quickly. I am excited for the class and the new things that it is going to teach me.
