Hi Class,
So
far we have discussed discriminative stimuli, satiation, & deprivation. Please find a video clip that has an example of discriminative stimuli. Then find a second video that has satiation. Then find another video that has deprivation.
For originality sake, make sure the videos you are not using the same videos the four other students before you just used. Please be sensitive to this issue.
For each of the 3 clips:
I would like you to briefly describe/summarize the clip. The tell us which of the three concepts it represents.
Please then list the ABC's of the behavior
A=
B=
C=
Now state if this is an example of positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, or negative punishment.
Finally summarize how the clip is demonstrating the concept and how the ABC's explain what is happening in the clip.
Do the same for the other 2 clips.
Copy and paste the URL at the bottom of the page so we can go and see the video you used.
Once
you are done with your post make list of the terms and terminology you
used in your post. We will be looking for terminology that has been
introduced in the class so far. Your post will be worth more with more
terminology used.
Let me know if you have any questions....
This video diplays the emition of a rat showing behavior condusive to the discriminitive stimulus.
A=Playing of music(discriminitve stimuli)
B=Either spinning or pressing on lever
C=Recieving water
This represents positive reinforcement
In summation, the rat would react with a certain behaivor for water. The ABC's simplify the causation of the rats behavior.

This video is of a man showing how to reach satation without overeating.
A=Placing water and fruit on the table
B=Drinking large glass of water before eating
C=Not overeating
This video shows positive punishment because he remembers his past behaviors and the negative punishment(overeating and weight gain) he experienceed because of them.

This clip, based on a true story in canada, is about a man stranded in the woods alone, no interaction with humnas, and lack of food or water.
A=Riding his snowmobile in the woods alone
B=Falling off the snowmobile
C=Deprivation of food or water and social interaction
It displays a negative reinforcement because of his predictiment after riding alone in the woods. He'll be less likely to do it agian.
It shows the deprivation of food and water and social interactions can have a profound effct on the mind and how we change our perspective on normal behavior versus adversive behavior.

discriminative stimuli
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXkThljAeYw
In this video clip Peter is trying to cover up his farts because he is in a meeting. Peter knows it is inappropriate to emit a farting sound while he is in this meeting. Peter emits a coughing sound to cover up all of his farts so people don't hear them.
A= Peter is in a meeting
B= Peter farts
C= Peter coughs, or talks to cover up his farts
This is an example of positive reinforcement. He is adding a cough to cover up his farts so no one will hear them. It seemed to work, so he is more likely to do this in the future.
Peter is at a meeting and he farts, so to cover up his farts he begins to cough or talk. He knew it was inappropriate to fart in a meeting, so he conditioned himself to not emit a farting sound.
satiation

Mr. cat is given milk repeatedly.
A= is given a class of milk
B= drinks milk
C= feels sick to his stomach
This is an example of positive punishment.
The cat is given milk and is forced to keep drinking it. On the final glass he finally becomes satiated by the milk and no longer enjoys it. He now feels sick from drinking too much milk.
deprivation

Karen and Gretchen walk in an tell Regina they have to talk to her. They then proceed to tell her to elicit the behavior of standing up and moving tables, because it's a Monday and she is wearing sweatpants. Regina then asks the girls to elicit the behavior of talking pity on her, and they do not emit the behavior. Regina is then punished by asking to move tables.
A= It's a Monday
B= Regina is wearing sweatpants
C= Regina is asked to move
This is an example of negative punishment. Gretchen and Karen are taking away her ability to sit with them.
This is an example of establishing operations. Sitting with the girls didn't seem like such a big deal to Regina when it was a part of her daily routine, but when she was deprived of it, she wanted to sit with them even more. She got upset by being asked to move. Deprivation plays a big roll in this clip because Regina throws a fit because she is being deprived of something that came so second nature to her. The antecedent of the clip is that it is a Monday. The behavior is that Regina wore sweatpants, so the consequence of this is that she has to move tables.

This first clip shows footage from an intersection in Russia. The clip shows some cars stopping at the light when the light is red, but some cars do not pay attention to the discriminative stimuli of the stop light and end up getting into accidents. This clip is demonstrating discriminative stimuli.
A – The cars come to a red light
B – They don’t stop
C – They get hit by oncoming traffic
This is an example of positive punishment because they are being hit by another car which will decrease the likely hood that they will run a red light again.
This clip is demonstrating discriminative stimuli because a red stop light is a discriminative stimuli to stop and wait for the light to change to green before continuing on. The Abc’s explain what is happening by showing that if you ignore the discriminative stimuli to stop then the consequence will often be aversive and you will end up being struck by another vehicle.

This second clip is from family guy and Peter has challenged Brian and Stewie to a contest to get the last piece of pie. He says whoever can drink the ipecac and go the longest without throwing up gets the last piece of pie. So they all end up throwing up all over the place and then no one wants the pie. This is an example of satiation.
A – The all want the last piece of pie so they decide who goes the longest without throwing up wins it
B – They drink the ipecac and start throwing up
C – None of them want the pie any more.
This is an example of negative punishment because they are all throwing up (taking something away), which is going to decrease the likelihood that they will drink ipecac to decide who gets the last piece of pie.
This clip is demonstrating satiation because the reinforcer or the pie loses its ability to reinforce after they all have been throwing up. The Abc’s explain this by the fact that throwing up that much is generally aversive which is going to decrease the likelihood that they will ever attempt that challenge again.

This third clip is from the Simpsons. It shows the Simpson family staying at an isolated cabin in the mountains. Homer has been cut off from his two favorite things TV and Beer. Being cut off from them has caused him to go insane. This is an example of deprivation.
A – Homer is staying at an isolated cabin
B - Homer franticly searches for beer and TV but can’t find any
C – Homer goes crazy
This is an example of negative punishment because Homer’s beer and TV have been taken away, which is going to decrease the likelihood that Homer will stay at an isolated cabin without his two favorite things TV and beer.
This third clip is showing deprivation because Homer has been cut off from TV and beer which leads him to go crazy. The Abc’s show this because Homer is staying at an isolated cabin so he can’t simply go out and get beer. He franticly searches from Beer and TV but can’t locate any which causes him to go insane.

Discriminative Stimuli
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsonPCR6EZg
This is a video of goldfish being trained to push a button to receive food. The discriminative stimulus is the light above the button, signaling that if the fish emitts the button pushing behavior it will be rewarded with food, however it will not be rewarded when the light is off.
A= Light is on
B= Fish pushes button
C= Fish receives food
This video is an example of positive reinforcement in that when the discriminative stimulus of the light is on it signals the fish to push the button in order to receive food.
Satiation

This is a family guy video clip of Britney Spears pigging out at a buffet. It is a good example of satiation because she will soon become satiated and full/sick if she keeps eating at that pace.
A= At a buffet
B= Britney pigs out
C= Britney will become satiated and full/sick
This is an example of positive punishment in that being at a buffet elicits a behavior of over eating from Britney Spears and she will soon become satiated and feel full and sick.
Deprivation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBTqRlNaO90
This a video clip from Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Charlie takes the rest of Dee's steroids and she becomes deprived and freaks out on him.
A= Finds out her steroids are gone
B= Dee freaks out
C= They get in a fight
This is an example of negative punishment in that Dee wants to take some of her steroids and realizes she is out. She then becomes deprived and freaks out, getting into a fight with Charlie.
Terms: Reinforcement, Punishment, Emit, Elicit, Satiation, Deprivation, Discriminative Stimulus
This is a video about a man visiting a beach and putting on sunscreen. It represents discriminative stimulus.
A= At a beach
B= Feel the sun’s rays
C= Put on sunscreen
This is an example of positive reinforcement.
The clip demonstrates discriminative stimulus because the sun is what let the man know that he needed to put sunscreen on or else he will burn his skin. He emitted a lotioning behavior when he felt the sun’s rays.
The ABC’s explain the clip well because they tell us the chain of events that let the man to making the decision to put on sunscreen. They also tell us if it was reinforcement or punishment.
The first 5 seconds are all that’s necessary to watch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABQYqpWF1LA
This clip is of a boy who gets sick after eating as many sandwiches as he could during a White Castle Fast Food Eating Contest. It represents satiation.
A= At a White Castle Eating Contest
B=Eating as many White Castle Sandwiches as possible
C= Getting sick
This is an example of positive punishment.
The clip demonstrates satiation because the contestants are eating as many sandwiches as possible to receive a prize, however, the more sandwiches they eat, the less they want to keep eating. The boy in the video has eaten so many sandwiches that he can’t stomach any more.
The ABCs summarize the clip because they let you know the decision that someone has made in the clip and the consequence of their actions.
The first 30 seconds are all that’s necessary to watch.

This is a very sad and disturbing clip about a young girl who is kidnapped by her own father and forced to live in a cellar for 24 years, during which time, she becomes the mother of her father’s children. It represents social deprivation.
A= Kidnapped
B= Forced to live in cellar
C= Social Deprivation
This is an example of negative punishment.
The clip demonstrates deprivation because it discusses the sad story of a woman who was kept away from any freedom or social setting for 24 years. Due to this, she has to regain control of her life and find a way to make herself a member of society and become used to the social scene again.
The ABCs summarize the clip well because they give us an overview of what happened and let us know the main events that took place and the consequences of those events and actions.
The whole video is necessary to watch.

Discriminative Stimulus
In this video clip, Kristen Bell’s birthday present she received from her husband was that a sloth would be attending her birthday party that night. Due to the face that she is infatuated with sloths, Kristen emits a crying behavior upon finding out about the sloth, and again when she thinks a sloth will be brought out on the show. The sloth is an example of a discriminative stimulus.
A- It is Kristen Bell’s birthday.
B- A sloth is brought to her birthday party by her husband.
C- Kristen emits a crying behavior over the sloth’s presence.
This is an example of positive reinforcement, because the addition of the sloth, (the discriminative stimulus), elicits a crying behavior in response to the sloth.
A discriminative stimulus influences the occurrence of an operant response. This clip is demonstrating a discriminative stimulus, because Kristen emits a crying behavior when she gets to see a sloth. Therefore, the sloth is the discriminative stimulus. The antecedent is the fact that it is Kristen Bell’s birthday. The behavior is her husband bringing a sloth to her birthday party that night. The consequence of the addition on the sloth is eliciting a crying from Kristen.
Terms: Emit, elicit, antecedent, behavior, consequence, discriminative stimulus, positive reinforcement, response.

Satiation
In this clip, a cat owner is trying to elicit a playing behavior from his cat by giving it catnap. The cat then reaches satiation through this.
A-The owner wants his cat to emit a playing behavior.
B-The owner gives his cat the catnip.
C- The cat emits the playing behavior, but reaches satiation with the catnip.
This clip represents positive reinforcement, because the cat owner is bringing in the addition of the catnip to reinforce the cat’s playing behavior.
Satiation indicates that introducing any additional reinforcement to an organism will not alter the frequency of the behavior which is being reinforced, because it has had its fill. This demonstrates satiation, because the catnip that was used as a positive reinforcer, no longer produces the wanted outcome, because the cat has reached satiation with the catnip. The antecedent is the cat owner wanting his cat to emit a playing behavior, the behavior is the owner presenting catnip to the cat, and the consequence is the cat emits a playing behavior until he has reached his satiation of the catnip.
Terms: Emit, elicit, antecedent, behavior, consequence, satiation, reinforcement, positive reinforecement.

Deprivation
In this clip, from the movie Despicable Me, the three girls just were informed that they got adopted, and are emitting excited behaviors. They talk about their hopes for their new family.
A- The little girls are orphans.
B- Gru adopting the girls.
C- They express their enthusiasm with each other.
Positive reinforcement, because the positive experience of moving of getting parents/a parents reinforces them to emit excited behaviors.
Deprivation is withholding any stimulus that serves as a reinforcer. This demonstrates deprivation, because being deprived of parents their entire life, makes them getting adopted more valuable to them therefore, increasing their enthusiasm. The antecedent is how the little girls are orphans, the behavior is Gru adopting them, and the consequence is the little girls emitting an excited behavior.
Terms: Emit, antecedent, behavior, consequence, reinforcer, stimulus, deprivation, positive reinforcement.

Discriminative Stimulus
http://movieclips.com/UaZh-up-movie-carl-meets-russell/
In this clip from the movie “Up”, Russell knocks on Carl’s door in order to help him win the “Assisting the Elderly” badge for Boy Scouts. This is clip demonstrates a discriminative stimulus. The knock on the door is the discriminative stimulus. When Carl hears the knock on the door, he emits the behavior of getting up to answer it. Getting up to answer the door is the operant response.
A – Knock on the door
B – Getting up and answering the door
C - Having to listen to the annoying kid
This is an example of positive punishment. The consequence of answering the door was having to talk to a child, which Carl found aversive. Therefore this punishes him for opening the door.
Satiation
http://movieclips.com/qZHX-shrek-forever-after-movie-puss-in-retirement/
In this clip from the movie “Shrek Forever After”, Shrek goes to Puss in Boots house only to find that he has retired. At the very end of the clip, a mouse runs up on Puss in Boots’ milk bowl. However, Puss just says “I’ll get him later” rather than eating the mouse right away. This clip demonstrates satiation. Before the satiation occurred, Puss would try and catch the mouse. His reinforcement for catching the mouse was being able to eat it. Puss in Boots has now “let himself go” and ate too many mice. Now the reward of the mice is no longer appealing, therefore he has been satiated.
A – Mouse on the bowl
B – He says he’ll get the mouse later
C – The mouse, which was once reinforcement, runs away
This is an example of positive reinforcement before the satiation occurred. The mouse was an addition to something. The mouse used to be able to elicit a chase from boots. However now that Puss has had too many mice, he has been satiated.
Deprivation
http://movieclips.com/8GUAe-tangled-movie-the-smolder/
In this clip from the movie “Tangled”, you need to know some back story first to be able to understand. Flynn stole a tiara from the castle and hid it in his satchel. The guards, obviously angered by this, chased Flynn until he found a hiding spot – Rapunzel’s house/tower. Rapunzel, who like most isn’t a fan of intruders, hit Flynn on the head and tied him up with her hair. She also took away his satchel and hid it. There was the background. NOW here is the explanation of the clip. Rapunzel has hidden the satchel from Flynn. She is now blackmailing him into taking her to see the floating lights. If he takes her to see the floating lights, she will give him back his satchel which has the tiara in it. This is an example of deprivation. Rapunzel is depriving Flynn of the satchel to elicit him to take her to the floating lanterns. She will reinforce him emitting that behavior by returning his satchel to him.
A – Rapunzel wants to go see the floating lights
B – She takes away Flynn’s satchel for blackmail
C – Flynn must now take her to see the floating lights in order to get his satchel back
I found many ways to explain this clip, making it kind of tricky to know which one was the correct one. The best, at least I thought, was describing what will happen. I therefore believe this clip to eventually lead to positive reinforcement. Rapunzel will give Flynn his satchel if he emits the desired behavior of taking her to see the floating lights.
Terms - emit, elicit, behavior, reinforcement, reinforcer, deprivation, satiation, positive reinforcement, aversive, discriminative stimulus, operant response
discriminative stimulus
the clip I found is from the show the Office. the scene that I chose is Michael (who is the manager) is talking to all of his employees in the conference room during a meeting. Michael was the discriminative stimulis so all the employees are watching and paying attention to him. One of the people there says to Michael that he underlined the wrong word on the board. Michael then kicked Toby out of the meeting.
A A meeting in the conference roon
B Toby tells Michael he underlined the wrong word
C Michael kicks Toby out of the meeting
this is an example of negative punishment. This is because being kicked out of the meeting will decrease the frequency of Toby telling Michael he did the wrong thing. Toby was taken out of the situation which makes this negative punishment.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBeHiPabqBE
Satiation
The clip I chose to use for satiation is from the television show friends. What you dont see in the clip is that Joey was upset with Monica that she wasnt going to make a turkey for Thanksgiving. So she makes the turkey and Joey has to eat the whole thing. What happens in the clip is Joey finishing the entire turkey and you see how he is not feeling well. He starts to develop the meat sweats and his stomach is hurting him.
A. Monica makes Joey a whole turkey
B. Joey eats the entire turkey
C. Joey doesnt feel well and gets the 'meat sweats'
this is an example of positive punishment. Joey eats the entire turkey to the point where he is sick to his stomach and sick of turkey which is the satiation. The consequence of eating the turkey is him not feeling well, this is will decrease the frequency of him eating so much turkey. The adding of the turkey is the positive in positive punishment.

Deprivation
for deprivation I used a clip from the show friends. this is a longer clip, so in the very beginning Joey gets a letter in the mail saying that his health insurance lapsed because he hasnt worked enough in the past year. at 1:50 min into the clip it shows him having a hernia, but because he has no health insurance he cannot go to the hospital. At the end of the clip, 5:00 in, Joey gets his health insurance back after being deprived of it. He is reinforced that he has it back so they celebrate with a dangerous game.
A. Joey gets health insurance back
B. Phoebe hits Joey in the head with a bat
C. Joey can go to the hospital
This is an example of positive reinforcement. Joey had lost his health insurance, after being deprived for a long time of it, when he gets it back he lets phoebe hit him on the head as reinforcement for being able to go to the hospital. He is reinforced with health insurance and the health insurance is being added. Having health insurance will increase his frequency of working

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sab42ez3q_E
In this clip is from Family Guy and is an example of a disciminative stimuli. In this clip Peter tries to elicit Brian to ask a question (the discriminative stimuli) in order for Peter to emit the behavior of sing "The Bird is the Word".
A=Peter's kitchen, Peter reading the paper
B=Brian asks Peter what he is talking about
C=Peter sings "The Bird is the Word" and dances
This is an example of positive reinforcement for Peter because Peter was successful in getting the target response that he desired. However this is a positive punishment for Brian because he finds the song aversive thus decreasing the likelihood of Brian emitting the behavior of responding to Peter's questions. They are both positive because it involves the addition of Peter singing.
This clip demonstrates a discriminative stimuli because Peter waits for Brian to ask a certain question, which is the discriminative stimuli. Without this stimuli Peter would have no reason to start singing that song. While Peter is sitting in the kitchen looking at the newspaper he elicits Brian to ask him what he is talking about. This behavior leads to the consequence of Peter singing a song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WNrx2jq184
This next clip illustrates deprivation. It is a clip of a dog who has been deprived of water and is finally given water by the person who submitted the video. Starting at 45 seconds going well into 2 minutes the dog drinks water.
A=Dog has been chained and deprived of water
B=Woman brings dog water/dog drinks water
C=Dog drinks water for almost two straight minutes/dog isn't thirsty anymore
This is an example of negative punishment when the dog is deprived of water because water is taken away and of positive reinforcement when the woman gives the dog water because it is likely the dog will continue to go to the woman to get water.
Deprivation is shown in this video because the dog is deprived of water so he emits the behavior of asking for water and once he is rewarded with water he drinks for an extended period of time. With the antecedent being extreme thirst due to deprivation and a woman emitting the behavior of bringing water the dog drinks the water and is no longer thirsty.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UASWCSuB_uc
This last clip is an example of satiation. It is clip from Man v.s. Food where he tries to eat a 6lbs burrito. At 7:10 Adam experiences satiation.
A=6lbs Burrito challenge
B=Adam attempts this challenge
C=Adam hits the "food wall" and is unable to eat anymore
This is an example of positive punishment because there is an addition of the burrito and the aversive feeling of being too full. In the context of Las Vegas and the lure of the Burrito Challenge elicits the desire to eat 6lbs of food. After Adam emits the target behavior he must face the consequence of feeling too full.

BMod blog
This clip is from the movie Matilda. In it a boy is forced to eat a whole cake and experiences satiation. Please ignore the background music, I couldn’t find a clip of just the scene.
A= Bruce was at school.
B= Bruce stole cake.
C= Bruce was forced to eat a whole cake.
This is an example of positive punishment, because something aversive was added to decrease the behavior. Bruce (the boy) emitted the behavior of stealing cake. He now has to eat a whole cake as punishment. Initially Bruce found the consumption of cake pleasurable, but after half a cake he experiences satiation. When forced to continue eating, the cake becomes aversive and starts working as a punishment, decreasing the likelihood that he will steal cake in the future.

The second clip about tiger training shows a girl trying to elicit a sitting response from her tiger as she leads it around the training area. This demonstrates discriminate Stimuli.
A= The tiger is brought into the training area.
B=The Tiger sits after climbing the tables.
C=The tiger will get a treat.
This is an example of positive reinforcement because the tiger receives a treat after emitting the climbing and sitting behavior and will be more likely to do it again.
The training area and the tables act as a discriminate stimulus because it signals to the tiger that he will be expected to do tricks and will consequently, receive reinforcement. The discriminate stimulus works because the tiger immediately climbs the table, even though it doesn’t sit right away. After emitting the sitting behavior and receiving a treat he sits the next time he climbs the tables.

My final clip is from Aladdin. When Aladdin is imprisoned Jafar, disguised as an old man, uses reinforcement to manipulate him to lead him to the treasure. This is an example of deprivation.
A= Aladdin is imprisoned for stealing and meets Jafar.
B= Helping Jafar get the treasure.
A= Aladdin will receive some treasure.
This is an example of positive reinforcement because treasure is given in response to emitting the behavior of going with Jafar.
Aladdin had been deprived all his life of money because he is a poor street urchin. This makes the reinforcer, treasure, all the more powerful in eliciting the behavior of helping jafar get it. Jafar knows this and is manipulating Aladdin.

In this clip a dog is giving a receipt to a customer when the person says "printer" the dog takes the paper out of the printer and gives it to the receptionist then gives it to the customer the discriminative stimulus is the person saying printer
A= person saying printer
B= dog taking paper out of printer and gives to customer
C= dog gets praise and a treat
this is a form of positive reinforcement b/c when the dog emits the behavior of giving the receipt the consequce is getting praise or a treat.
in this next video it is a hot dog eating contest and at 5.08 one of the contestants throws up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V-2NKUlzns
A= hot dog eating contest
B= eating 50+ hot dogs
C= throws up
the contestant hits satiation when he eats to many hot dogs.
In this last video a cat is sorta being deprived of water even though he has a water dish behind him the cat emits the behavior of trying to drink out of the sink
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U5Iy0zjlak
A= thirsty
b= drinks out of sink
c= not thirsty anymore

Discriminative stimulus
This is a video clip which shows slot machines in a casino. They are very colorful and lighted in many ways. A sign on the right side of the machine tells the potential player “Insert coin here.”
This is a discriminative stimulus for the response of inserting a coin. Once the coin is inserted, the level can be pulled and the reels in the slot windows will spin.
A= The casino and slot machine with the sign saying “Insert coin here.”
B= Putting a coin into the slot to playing the machine
C= The lever is released from locked so it can be pulled to spin the reels.
The sign “Insert the coin here” is a discriminative stimulus because in its presence the response of putting a coin in the slot will be reinforced by the lever being unlocked and free to be pulled.
Video clip #2

Satiation
In this video clip from an old TV commercial, a man is sitting on his bed, groaning, and obviously feeling sick from having eaten too much food. At one time he was deprived, but now he is satiated. Food was at one time a reinforcer. Now, it is more likely to be a punisher.
A= the availability of lots of appealing food, maybe at a “all you can eat” buffet.
B= Eating food
C= Over eating and feeling ill, being satiated
This begins as an example of positive reinforcement because the behavior of eating was reinforced by the taste of the food.
In the end though, this is an example of satiation because he ate too much. He has turned food, which was once a reinforcer, into a punisher.
Video clip #3

Deprivation
In this video clip from a TV commercial, a young man comes to pick up a girl for a date. Her father says “you have time to eat with us”. So the young man sits down to his burger and sees a bottle of ketchup. T his is not the kind of ketchup his parents buy so he has been deprived of it. We see his anticipation as it is poured from the bottle.
A= Seated at dinner table with food.
B= Eating a hamburger with a certain kind of ketchup.
C= Enjoying the burger even more because of the kind of ketchup
This is positive reinforcement because eating is the behavior and the taste of the food is the reinforcer. The reinforcer is improved by the addition of a special kind of ketchup that he has been deprived of because his parents don’t buy it.
This is also an example of deprivation because he has not gotten to use this kind of ketchup at home. He has been deprived of it.
TERMS: discriminative stimulus, deprivation, satiation, response, reinforcer, punisher, positive reinforcement
My first video on discriminative stimuli suggests that every day, but Thursday is a “normal” day. However, Thursday’s at Ames you can get 10-70% off your items, get there! The discriminative stimulus is the percent off, eliciting people to emit to buying from Ames on Thursday’s sale.
A= Waiting for Thursday
B= Buy on Thursday
C= Save money on Thursday
This is an example of positive reinforcement.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPEQ1q1E5ys&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL9FB17CD6C928FC7F
This is an example of satiation. The video is a clip from Super Troopers, probably not the most appropriate, but funny. The part where it becomes satiation is when the backseat rider to the car was asked to emit to eat a bag of marijuana and mushrooms with the consequence of being drugged out. They were pulled over after one of the rider’s emit to throw the remainder of the drugs out of the window and to punish the teens for “littering”, the cops were going to make them smoke the entire bag. The backseat rider had already emitted a large amount, he became satiated. He did not want to have to smoke the bag. As a consequence for the backseat rider the once pleasurable behavior became aversive.
A= Threw drugs out the window
B= Pulled over by cops
C= Smoke all the littered drugs
This is an example of positive punishment.
The satiation occurs in 4:00-4:18.

Everybody knows the basics of the storyline of Beauty and the Beast. This is the ending clip. The beast was deprived of a normal human life because he was selfish and mean. He was told that if he elicited kindness and love he would be able to return to normalcy. He was locked away in a castle and Bell was captured and eventually brought him to elicit kindness and love. Once the beast emitted this he was then transformed into a handsome man.
A= The beast was mean
B= Emitted kindness and love
C= Changed back to human
This is an example of positive reinforcement.
Transformation from beast to human occurs at 3:00 in the video.

Clip # 1
In this clip the dogs were trained to get the paper off the printer and then take it to the customer. Discriminative stimulus was represented in this clip.
A= Office
B= Retrieving the paper from the printer
C= Treat
This is an example of a positive reinforcement.
Discriminative stimulus was represented in this video because when the lady calls the dogs they know by now to come to her and what they need to do. They were taught to emit a behavior and ignoring it would probably result in some kind of consequence. The antecedent of the office works because if they were some where else and the lady had called the dogs she would want something else from them and not that specific behavior from the video. The behavior is one that was most likely learned over time as the woman elicited the paper grabbing behavior and the delivery. The consequence of the behavior was that the dog was praised and rewarded with a treat at the end of the behavioral response.

Clip #2
In this clip the host is with holding the prize by dangling it in front of her contestants, therefore depriving them of the doughnut or winning the money.
This video demonstrates deprivation.
A= Game show
B= Chasing doughnut
C= Money
This is an example of positive reinforcement.
This clip demonstrates deprivation by reinforcing the contestants with the thought of winning the money but then depriving them from winning it by taunting them with the hooked doughnut. The antecedent of the game show setting is that if this was any other situation I'm sure these grown women would not be wearing giant doughnuts trying to catch a smaller one in their mouths. They emit the behavior in hopes of winning the consequence of $500.

Clip #3
In this clip the two brothers are having a pizza eating contest just to see who could eat more. The end of this video demonstrates satiation.
A= Home
B= Eating Pizza
C= Bragging rights
This is an example of Positive Punishment.
Satiation was represented in this video because by the time they were almost done with their pizzas neither of them could tolerate another bite. In the beginning they were excited about the pizza and the contest and at the the end the pizza had lost its intrigue towards the boys, in response they stopped eating it. The antecedent of being at home allowed them to be themselves and not worry what others were thinking of them during this contest. The behavior was emitted as a challenge towards each other with the consequence being that the winner got bragging rights over the other brother.

Discriminative stimulus
This video is of a dog and a person waiting for an elevator. The elevator opens and they enter.
A - elevator opens (discriminative stimulus)
B - dog and person enter the elevator
C - they go to another floor
This clip is positive reinforcement because once the elevator opens it elicits a behavior in the dog and person to enter and they are reinforced because they get to go to the floor of their choice. The door opening is the discriminative stimulus because it elicits the behavior of entering the elevator.

Satiation
In this clip a guy talks about how he had to stay up late to study so he drank a lot of coffee. As he explains he drank to much coffee and as a result was spazing out and couldn't even hold onto his book.
A - staying up late to study
B - drank too much coffee
C - convulsive shaking, couldn't hold onto his book
Positive punishment
This is positive punishment because after emitting a behavior of drinking too much coffee the consequence was averisve, convulsive shaking. Therefore the frequency of him emitting a behavior to drink that much coffee will decrease. The clip displays satitaion because the consequence of drinking the coffee became less reinforcing because he started to shake a lot.

This is a clip of a food giveaway in Kenya. In the description on the video it says that there was an extreme drought in this area. A truck arrived with corn right before the the guy filming arrived. From 1:09 to the end of the clip the people are celebrating the arrival of the food by dancing and singing.
A - extreme drought/shortage of food and water
B - Corn was given away to the people
C - Celebrated
This clip is an example of Positive reinforcement. After being deprived of food for an extended period of time it became more reinforcing to get food. You can see how it became more reinforcing because normally people don't celebrate to that extent from receiving food.

In this clip Barney from How I met Your Mother is telling/showing a joke to emphasis his point and make you laugh. In the context of the clip they are at a bar sitting in a booth talking. So we will say at bar. Barney portrays the joke of faking suicide to make the conversation funny. So behavior is tell joke. The consequence is Barneys friends laughing or general audience laughing. So the consequence is laughing.
Breakdown
A= In bar
B= Tell Joke
C= Laughter
This is a example of positive reinforcement.
The clip is demostrating discrimitive stimulus because Barney is presenting a joke as a discrimitive stimulus for people to be under his stimulus control of laughter. When Barney tells a joke he is elicting a response for laughter which will act as a reinforcer for him. When the audience emits a laugh he is positivly reinforced. The antecedent of being in the bar allowed him to have the righ place to tell a joke which elicted the behavior of telling a joke. Barney knew the consequence would be laughter because he had been reinforced before.
In my second clip the boyfriend is ignoring his girlfriend because he is satiated with her being around him. Satiation is the concept. The boyfriend is not interested in his girlfriend anymore because he has been around her so much.
A= Bedroom
B= Ignoring
C= Girlfriend is bored
Postive punishment
This clip of boyfriend ignoring girlfriend is showing the concept of satiation due to the fact that the boyfriend is tired of his girlfriend and is not interested in giving her attention. therefore he is satiated with his girlfriend. He is in his bedroom watching tv, so bedroom is antecedent. His behavior is to ignore girlfriend so that is behavior. And the consequence is the girlfriend is bored. I was unsure what type it was so i put positive punishment due to her poking the boyfriend for ignoring her.
In this video clip a kid is deprived of his world of warcraft account due to his mom deleting it. The kid is informed that his account was deleted and he storms off in a fit of rage.
A= bedroom
B= screaming
C= kid feels better
negative punishment
The video demostrates the concept of deprivation because the kid is deprived of something he loves and wants badly. In this case he is deprived of his video game WOW. The antecedent is him in his bedroom and the behavior is him throwing a fit of rage and anger. In conclusion I think he feels a little bit better.

This clip is from the Office and it's one that's always fun to use. Jim emits to shut down his computer, and whenever the restarting sound comes on Jim asks Dwight if he would like an altoid and then Dwight receives an altoid. This represents a discriminative stimulus.
ABC's
A=restarting computer sound
B=Asking dwight if he wants an altoid
C=Dwight receives altoid
It's an example of positive reinforcement. The altoid is added to the sound of the computer restarting.
This clip represents discriminative stimulus because whenever the sounds goes then Dwight wants to get reinforced with the pleasure of an altoid. So Jim emits to shut down his computer, and the restarting sound comes on which is the antecedent, and then Jim asks if Dwight would like an altoid which is the behavior, and then Dwight gets an altoid as a pleasurable consequence.

This is a summary clip from the documentary Supersize me. This movie represents satiation because he has to eat McDonald's ever single day and at every meal. At like 47 secs. his is excited to eat the Big Mac and can't wait, but at 1:19 he body starts to punish him after eating all the McDonald's.
ABC's
A=Challenged to eat McDonald's for a month
B=Eats Supersized meal
C=Feels sick
This would be positive punishment because his health and body is being punished whenever he is eliciting to eat McDonald's. McDonald's becomes very aversive to him only in the 2nd day.
When he is challenged to eat McDonald's for a whole month that is the antecedent. Then he has to eat a supersized meal, so that is an elicited behavior, and the consequence is him feeling sick after he eats too much of it. Because he is eating it 3 meals a day for a month it become satiation and becomes too much of a good thing.

In this clip of sixteen candles. Sam turns sixteen but is deprived of getting the reinforcement she wants, for her parents and family to wish her a happy birthday.
ABC's
A=Sam's birthday
B=Family forget's Sam's birthday
C=Sam gets upset
This would be negative punishment, Sam's getting punished because it is the absence of saying happy birthday to her that makes her upset.
It's Sam's birthday and normally she is reinforced on her birthday, just as she has been every year of her life, but her family thinks this is just an ordinary day, and they forget her birthday, this is very aversive and so Sam gets very upset as a result.

Discriminative Stimulus:
1)This clip is showing the “Invisible String Prank” in action. This prank elicits the vehicles chosen as the subjects to emit a stopping response in belief that the individuals on the shoulder of the road have an invisible string strung across the street.
2)As shown in this clip, the invisible string acts as a discriminative stimulus within the drivers’ environment to increase the likelihood that they will emit a stopping response.
A = The Busy Road/The Invisible String
B = The boys act like they are stringing a string across the road.
C = The car stops
3)This clip in the eyes of the boys performing the prank represents positive reinforcement. The boys are eliciting a response out of the drivers that brings success in their prank. This pleasurable response will increase the likelihood that the boys will emit this behavior in the future.
4)This clip demonstrates the concept of discriminative stimulus by showing how the string being the antecedent is strung across the road as the behavior which manipulates the drivers’ environment and elicits a stopping response as a consequence. In conclusion, the string regulated the behaviors of the drivers by eliciting the consequence of them stopping to bring the prank to a success.

Satiation:
1)This clip is from an episode of the television show The Biggest Loser. In this clip Bob the trainer is yelling at Joelle, a contestant on the show, for not being able to keep up with the workouts and giving up. Joelle is so fatigued that her motivation is lacking.
2)This clip represents the concept of satiation by showing that no matter what other reinforcement Joelle would receive, she would still not emit the desired behavior of working out. The reinforcement of losing weight and possibly winning the show is no longer a strong enough reinforcement for her.
A = The Biggest Loser contest/The fitness facility
B = Working out to the point of exhaustion
C = Giving up and exhausted from all attempts of reinforcement.
3)This clip is an example of negative punishment. In this clip, in order to reduce Joelle’s behavior of giving up on the workouts, her chances of winning the show and losing a lot of weight are decreased. Due to her aversive behavior of giving up on the workouts and letting her team down, she may be voted off the show and her chances of winning are next to none.
4)This clip demonstrates the concept of satiation by showing how Joelle is exhausted to the point where the reinforcement of losing weight and winning the show no longer has any effect on altering her behavior to work-out as expected. The fitness facility being the antecedent elicits Joelle’s emitted behavior of working out to the point of exhaustion, which leads to the aversive consequence of Joelle giving up.

1)This clip is an E-trade commercial that shows a guy named Frank scratching at a lottery ticket to see if he won any money from it. The baby next to him is telling him to just go to E-trade instead of wasting all his time and money on lottery tickets that never get him any money. In the end, Frank doesn’t win anything off of the ticket, and the baby teases him by showing his “shocked” face.
2)This clip represents the concept of deprivation. The lottery companies provide the chances of winning a lot of money off of their tickets which elicits people like Frank to emit the behavior of buying the tickets. The deprivation of not always winning the money increases the likelihood of people buying the tickets in order to try their chances at getting lucky and receiving the money.
A = The lottery ticket
B = Scratching off the ticket
C = Not winning any money
3)This clip represents positive reinforcement by showing how the consequence of Frank not earning any money off of the lottery ticket will increase the likelihood of him emitting the behavior of buying another ticket to test out his luck again in hopes of earning money.
4)This clip demonstrates deprivation by showing how Frank not winning the money off of the lottery ticket is going to increase the likelihood of him buying another ticket in order to see if he can win money from a different one. The lottery ticket being the antecedent elicits the behavior of Frank scratching off the ticket, which leads to the aversive consequence of not winning the money. This behavior as well as the consequence is going to elicit Frank to buy another lottery ticket in hopes of winning money.

Discriminative Stimulus
This video has an exercise sitting in the yard and a kid decides instead of using it to exercise, he is going to jump on it with two feet.
A- The ball sitting in the yard
B- The kid jumps with two feet on the ball
C- The kid falls down
This is an example of negative punishment because you are taking away the fun the kid thought he might have and he ends up falling down.
This is demonstrating discriminative stimulus because the ball was sitting in the yard, which was eliciting a behavior from the kid. He could have either kicked it or used it for exercise, but instead he decided to jump on it with two feet. If the ball had been sitting in the house, he might now have decided to jump on it. And if he changed his behavior, he might not have fallen on the ground. The ABC's are clear here that they all work together. In this video, an aversive reaction was the consequence because he fell and it probably hurt.

Satiation
This video clip is from the movie Super Size Me. The guy only eats Mcdonalds to see the effects it has. He goes through the drive thru and orders his food. While eating the food, it elicits sweating, arms feel numb, and he doesn't feel well at all.
A. Going to Mcdonalds
B. Eating food only from Mcdonalds
C. Feels sick, sweating, throws up
This is negative reinforcement because your adding something, the food, but he is getting an aversive consequence.
This is satiation because by emitting eating at Mcdonalds, he enjoys it at first but then regrets it because it effects his health, and he feels sick and throws up. When he gets sick, it elicits not wanting to eat Mcdonalds food anymore.

A- Being a vegetarian
B- Eating meat for the first time in a long time
c- She gets sick
This is negative reinforcement because your adding something Phoebe doesn't want.
She has deprived herself of meat for a long time, but to get the approval of the parents she decides to eat it anyway. This elicits her throwing up and making a bad impression anyway.

In this clip, Ariel is taken to her seceret cave of human treasures. This is the only place she is allowed to emit the behavior of pretending she is human and worshiping human things because her father, King Triton dislikes humans. She is then punished for having all these human items when she has to watch her father destroy them and get yelled at. This represents discriminative stimuli because Ariel can only act like and wish she was a human in that environment, and no where else.
A-Arial collects human items
B-Triton finds Ariel's collection and destroys it
C-Ariel is upset
This would be an example of negative punishment because Triton took away Ariel's belongings by destroying them.
Ariel, a Mermaid is not allowed to be in contact with humans but she collects their belongings from sunken ships. Her father elicts the behavior she should marry a merman and not a human. When he finds Ariel is in love with a human and hasn't been emitting the behavior of a mermaid, Triton ruins his daughter's collection and as a consequence, Ariel is upset and cries.

In this clip of 101 Dalmatians, older dogs are helping the puppies escape Cruella Deville's house.They then lead the 101 puppies to John's (the owner) house. John, his wife and the maid see how many puppies there are and are shocked. This would be an example of satiation because they are reinforced by saving the puppies' lives by being happy, but there are so many they probably would have been happy with saving 20 puppies as much as they are with saving 101.
A-Puppies are stolen
B-puppies are rescued
C-have to take care of them all, or find them all good homes.
This would be positive reinforcement even though it would be a hassel to find 101 homes willing to take in a puppy.
Cruella wants to make a coat out of puppy Dalmatian fur so she emits the behavior of stealing puppies. She stores them in an abandoned house with two robbers. The parents of the puppies and some of their friends break into the house and punish the robbers by biting them. All the puppies are there, so the elict the behavior of rescuing all the puppies instead of just their own. They then emit the behavior of bringing all 101 puppies back home to their owner, John, who has to then take care of all the dogs or find them good homes.

In this clip, a soldier is suprising his 9 year old daughter at her elementry school spelling bee. She is asked to spell the word "sargeant" while her dad is standing behind the stage curtain. When she spells the word, the test administrator asks her if she knows a sargeant and she talks about her father as the curtain opens. She runs to him and they both cry.
To me, this represents deprivation. The girl was reinforced more by seeing her father who she had not seen in months when spelling the word.
A-participate in spelling bee
B-spell word
C-see her father who she hasn't seen in months
This would be positice reinforcement because the girl got to see and spend time with her dad for taking part in the spelling bee (even though I'm sure he would have seen her the same if she did spell the word wrong).
In demonstrating the ABC's, the girl emitted the behavior of spelling the word sargeant, which was the target behavior of the contest. When she correctly emitted that behavior, she was reinforced by seeing her dad, the reinforcer. The girl and her father had not see each other in months so when they did get to see each other, it was a lot more rewarding than seeing him everyday at home (deprivation). The consequence was that the girl and her father got to spend time together and both be happy.

Clip 1-Discriminative Stimulus
In this video clip, a man is teaching his German Shepard dog how to sit. He uses a treat in his hand to teach the dog hand which hand signals mean what. In this video, the discrimiative stimulus is the hand signals.
A: Dog Training
B: Sit, Stand, Lay Down
C: Learns how to sit, lay down, and stand.
This is an example of positive reinforcement. When the dog follows the hand signals correctly, he/she will get rewarded. The ABC's simplify that.

Clip 2-Deprivation
In this video clip from the TV show Friends, Phoebe deprives herself of food so then at her birthday dinner, she will be hungry and eat a lot!
A: Birthday Dinner
B: Not Eating
C: Hungry

(the example is at 54 seconds)
In this clip from the movie "When a Stranger Calls," it shows an example of discriminative stimulus. The babysitting hears the phone ring, and that is the discriminative stimulus that elicits her to emit the behavior of answering the phone. Someone on the other end ominously says "Have you checked the children?" Although this scares her, it reinforces her to keep answering the phone.
A:The girl is babysitting and the phone rings
B:She answers the phone
C:Someone asks if she's checked the children, and she gets scared.
This is an example of positive reinforcement, because the added fear of the unknown man questioning the children's whereabouts is making her more likely to answer the phone the next time. You would think that the aversiveness of hearing the scary man would make her less likely to answer the phone, which would then be positive punishment, but that is not the case in this example.

In this clip from "King of the Hill," Bobby is caught emitting the behavior of cigarette smoking, and to make him stop wanting to emit this behavior, his father, Hank, uses the satiation process of making him smoke multiple packs of cigarettes. This over satisfies his want of smoking, and it is no longer appealing or reinforcing to him to continue the habit.
A:Bobby is caught smoking
B:Hank makes him smoke multiple packs of cigarettes
C:Bobby no longer wants to smoke cigarettes
This is an example of positive punishment because his behavior of smoking cigarettes is likely to decrease from the aversive consequence of having to smoke so many.

If you haven't seen the little mermaid, this clip might need a little bit of explaining, but what's happening is Ariel is deprived of having legs, because she is a mermaid. She then emits the behavior of letting Ursula take her voice in order for her to receive legs. So in this example, Ursula uses deprivation correctly and is reinforced with Ariel emitting the behavior of letting her have the voice.
A:Ariel has never had legs before, and Ursula is offering her legs in return for her voice.
B:Ariel allows Ursula to have her voice
C:Ariel now has legs.
This is positive reinforcement for Ariel because she got to have the legs she's always wanted after emitting the behavior of letting Ursula take her voice.

In this clip from Amrican dad, their chinese friend is sitting at the table speaking chinese, and their other friend with the afro emits a behavior that involves slaping him and tells him to learn to speak english. The discriminate stimulis is the friend speaking in chinese. The afro friend could have easily just asked him what he was saying or become intrigued with his ability to speak another language but instead he slaps him and the chinese man responds with a comeback in an attempt to speak english and slightly fails.
A= friends hanging out
B= One of them speaks in chinese
C= the other friend slaps him
It is an example of positive reinforcement because he is reinforcing him to speak another language and he is gaining the ability to better speak in english.

So basically what you don't see is that in the beginning of the episode, stan is feeling stressed out from his family so he decides to buy a hottub to help him relax. he begins to use the hot tub just about 24/7 and in this clip its almost like bein in the hottub is torture because he had been in it so much. This is satiation because the hottub is failing to emit a relaxing feeling anymore due to excessive use.
A=Stan buys a hottub to help with stress
B=Stan spends a lot of time in the hottub
C=Stan no longer needs the hottub because he had been in it so much he got sick of it.
This is an example of positive punishment because althouugh he is now losing the hottub he is gaining a less stressful life because he is now more relaxed.

In this clip from the simpsons, the target behavior actually shows at 45 seconds and on. Homer has been deprived of beer and tv and therefore has gone crazy. This is an example of deprivation because he is being deprived of the two things he most favors.
A=their house?
B= homer hasn't had any tv or beer in a long time
C= homer turns crazy
This is an example of negative punishment because he is getting beer and tv taken away from him and by him not having these things he is turning crazy which is a negative thing.
Terms: Emit, target behavior, satiation, deprivation, discriminate stimuli
Discriminative Stimulus
I chose a clip from the movie “Moulin Rouge”. The two main characters share a song on the rooftop. Christian is trying to convince Satine that love is important and why she should emit the behavior class of loving him. In the end she agrees. She emits a behavior of kissing him at 3:49
A= Being in love with Satine
B= Christian kisses Satine
C= The two fall in love
This is positive reinforcement because Christian is trying to increase the frequency of the behavior and he is adding something (the kiss)
Satine is a discriminative stimulus for Christian to emit the behavior of kissing her. The antecedent is Christian being in love with Satine and as a result he emits the behavior of kissing her. A consequence of his behavior is that the two of them fall in love with each other.

Satiation
I chose a clip from the movie “High School Musical 3” (yeah, lame). The characters Ryan and Sharpay are fantasizing about being famous and at Gabriella indicates to Sharpay that Oprah is calling again and Sharpay doesn’t want to talk to her.
A= Being famous
B= Oprah calls Sharpay and Ryan
C= Sharpay gets annoyed and ignores the call
This is positive reinforcement because Oprah is trying to increase the frequency of Sharpay and Ryan talking to her or calling her back and is adding something aversive (the calls)
This is an example of satiation because I’m sure the first few times Oprah called, Sharpay and Ryan would have been excited and wanted to talk, but after awhile the excitement wore off and they no longer wanted to talk to her.

I chose a clip from the movie “Kung Fu Panda” where Po is being trained to be the dragon warrior. The behavior happens between :25 and :33. The little weird looking thing says that once Po has been trained, he is allowed to eat.
A= Po is getting trained
B= Trainer withholds food from Po
C= Po trains hard so he can eat the dumplings
This is negative reinforcement because the trainer is trying to increase Po’s training skills by taking away something pleasurable (food)
This is deprivation because the trainer is not allowing Po to receive the food, which is reinforcing until he is completely trained.

This is a scene from the movie Matilda and a kid named Bruce eats a piece of cake that was meant for the principle, Ms. Trunchbull.
A: Bruce sneaks in and eats Ms. trenchbulls cake
B: Ms. Trunchbull makes him eat a whole cake
C: Bruce feels sick and experiences satiation
Bruce emits the behavior of eating a piece of cake that was the principles, Ms. Trunchbull. The target behavior is that Ms. Trunchbull makes him eat another whole cake as a form of punishment. This is a form of positive punishment with the cake being a punisher because Ms. Trunchbull adds eating the whole cake to reduce the likelihood that Bruce will eat her piece of cake again. The consequence of this is about half way through the cake (3 min 21 seconds) Bruce starts to feel sick to his stomach because he is experiencing satiation. He is satiated and doesn’t want any more cake.

B: Manny, Sid, and Diego fight with the dodo birds
C: The dodo birds die
The ice age elicits a protective behavior of the food sources and the dodo birds emit the behavior of fighting for their last 3 melons. The antecedent is the ice age starts and there is a lack of food. The dodo birds are experiencing deprivation because they do not have enough food for them to survive. The target behavior is Manny, Sid and Diego fight with the dodo birds over the melons. The consequence is the dodo birds die. This is a form of negative punishment because the fight takes away the dodo birds lives and makes it less likely the other dodo birds will fight for their food.

This is a scene from Marley and Me where they have enrolled Marley in dog training classes. Marley runs away and the trainer uses the whistle to get him to come back.
A: Marley runs away from the dog trainer
B: The trainer blows the whistle
C: Marley runs back to the trainer
The antecedent is Marley is misbehaving so they take him to obedience school but he runs away from the trainer. The trainer emits the behavior of blowing the whistle which is the discriminative stimuli because it signals Marley to come back. The consequence is that Marley runs back to the trainer and tackles her. This is a form of positive reinforcement because the trainer is adding the whistle to increase the behavior that the dog will listen.

This clip is watching people and how they react to the discriminative stimuli, which in this case would be the stop sign. The stop sign is to elicit a stopping behavior from the car but not all of them emit this behavior.
A - The cars come to a stop sign
B - They roll through the stop sign
C - They keep on driving without any consequence
This is an example of positive reinforcement because they are not being punished, therefore they will continue to emit the same behavior.
This is describing a discriminative stimuli because the stop sign is to elicit a stopping behavior from the oncoming cars. For some, they slow down but they do not emit a full stop. The ABC's describe this because they are not punishment which means they are more likely to roll through stop signs in the future.

The guy in this clip was challenged to eat $25 dollars worth of McDonald's food and in turn would earn $100. This represents satiation.
A - They go to McDonald's
B - He eats $25 worth of food
C - He no longer wants McDonald's food
This is an example of negative reinforcement because he is more than likely going to stop the behavior because of the aversive affect it had. He was in a miserable state.
The clip is demonstrating satiation because after eating all the McDonald's food, the man is probably not going to want to eat there for a good while. The ABC's explain it because the consequence of eating all the food was that he then felt miserable and did not desire to eat any more food. He was satiated.

This video shows dogs that have not gotten fed in awhile eating their food given to them. This represents deprivation.
A - The woman arrives where the dogs are.
B - She gives them some type of meat.
C - The dogs attack the food.
This is an example of positive reinforcement because the dogs are deprived and want the meat that she has. They know if they act good that they are likely to receive the meat that she has, therefore increasing the likelihood that the dogs will emit a good behavior as before.
The clip is demonstrating deprivation because the dogs have been deprived of food for an amount of time. You could likely get the dog to cooperate and do things you want it to because it knows that you have the food. It represents the ABC's because the antecedent is that the dogs are alone in their yard. The behavior would be feeding the dogs and the consequence of the behavior would be that the dogs are going to cooperate in order to receive the food.
Terms: discriminative stimuli, satiation, deprivation, elicit, emit, consequence, antecedent, behavior, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement.
This is a video if from the show 'Grey's Anatomy'. It shows a group of doctors having a hot dog eating contest. This clip emits satiation because of the amount of hot dogs that are consumed.
A= Sit down
B= Eating hot dog
C= Getting sick
This is an example of negative reinforcement. This clip is a perfect example of satiation because one of the people eating actually gets sick because she ate too much.

The second video I will be showing is from the movie 'Ensino Man'. It describes two young men who found a cave man when digging up a pool in their back yard. They give him a bath to try and make him look like he fits in the current society. This clip elicits deprivation.
A= Taking a bath
B= Washing hair
C= Looking fresh
This is an example of positive reinforcement. Deprivation plays a key role in this clip because this caveman has been deprived of the target behavior, which in this case is a bath.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwfCMXgnsEM&feature=fvsr
The third video I have selected is an alarm clock. This is an example of demonstrates discriminative stimulus.
A=Sleeping
B=Waking up
C=Turn off alarm
This clip shows positive reinforcement because when the alarm clock goes off, you are adding the sound of the alarm to reinforce your behavior which in this case would be waking up.

Terms: Satiation, emits, negative reinforcement, positive reinforcement, elicit, target behavior, discriminative stimulus
This first clip is about a dog that gets a treat when it gives its owner a kiss. It represents discriminative stimulus because when the dog sees the treat, it knows to give owner a kiss to receive the treat. This is an example of positive reinforcement because of the addition of the treat after emitting the behavior of giving kisses.
A: Sees treat
B: Gives owner kiss
C: Gets treat

This clip is about a hamster that puts a piece of food in its mouth every time a new one is presented. It represents satiation because after so many pieces of food, the hamster can’t fit any more in its mouth and walks away. This is an example of positive reinforcement because of the addition of food.
A: Presented food
B: Puts food in mouth
C: Can’t fit any more food in mouth and walks away

This clip is about a dog that is drinking water. It represents deprivation because the dog is so thirsty that it needs to drink water. This is an example of positive reinforcement because of the addition of water.
A: Deprived of water
B: Drinks water
C: Not thirsty

Discriminative Stimuli
The clip I choose to use is from the TV show “Full House.” In the clip, Danny comes home late from work, making Jesse very upset. This is an example of discriminative stimulus.
A-Supper time in the Tanner household
B-Danny comes home late
C-Jesse gets very mad
This clip shows an example of negative punishment. Danny is punished for coming home late by having to listen to Jesse to emit a complaining behavior.
This clip demonstrates the concept of discriminative stimulus. Danny’s behavior of coming home late elicits a very negative response from Jesse. Jesse has been working very hard all day and feels like Danny does not appreciate him. If Danny had not been late, Jesse would not have felt the need to yell at him.

Satiation
The next clip I used is a hamburger eating contest. At the end, all the contestants are full so they stop eating.
A-eating contest
B-eating a lot of hamburgers very quickly
C-feeling sick
This clip shows an extreme example of satiation. Once the contestants are full, they stop emitting an eating behavior.
The ABC’s show that the satiation occurs in the behavior and directly affects the consequence. This is an example of negative reinforcement.
The last 30 seconds pertain to satiation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKwSq70rgaI
Deprivation
In this clip from “How I met your Mother”, Barney has been deprived of wearing nice ties for over two weeks. He wants to stop wearing the ducky tie so much, that he is willing to let Marshall slap him 3 times, if Marshall lets him wear a normal tie.
A-Barney is being forced to wear the ducky tie
B-Barney takes off the tie
C-Marshall is allowed to slap Barney 3 times
This clip demonstrates what someone is willing to do to end a state of deprivation. Barney was willing to be slapped 3 times if he was allowed to stop earing the tie.
The ABC’s show what is being deprived. This is an example of negative punishment.
The deprivation starts at 4:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6LAP7jxvi8
Terms: negative punishment, Deprivation, negative reinforcement, emit, elicit, satiation, discrimination stimulus, consequence, behavior,
The first video that I chose shows an example of a discriminative stimulus. This video is a clip from the television show, Friends. In this clip Phoebe and Ross argue about whether evolution is a believable theory or not. There are actually a lot of different discriminative stimuli here, for example the table, drink coasters, other people are all discriminative stimuli. But I chose to concentrate on the couch as a discriminative stimulus. This is right at the beginning of the clip.
A.) In the apartment
B.) Sitting on the couch
C.) Your legs do not get tired from standing
This is an example of negative reinforcement because the target behavior of sitting on the couch will increase in frequency due to the removal of an aversive feeling, which is having sore legs. It is negative because nothing is being added to the situation; instead something is being taken away in order for the behavior to be emitted at a higher frequency in the future.
The definition of a discriminative stimulus is any stimulus which sets the occasion for reinforcement or punishment to occur. So I know that the couch is an example of a discriminative stimulus because it elicits a sitting behavior from people that are around it. Also, sitting on the couch reinforces the individual by making it so that their legs do not get tired. Since the couch fulfills both requirements of a discriminative stimulus, I know that it is one. The ABC’s help explain what is going on in this clip. The antecedent of being in a friend’s apartment elicits a sitting behavior on the couch. If the couch had been in a different context, say in the middle of the sidewalk, you would be less likely to just sit down on it and have a conversation with your friends. The behavior of sitting on the couch led to a consequence of not having tired legs. Therefore, the behavior was reinforced. The ABC’s do a good job of listing the important aspects of the video and how one thing, such as the behavior of sitting, leads to a consequence.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXr2kF0zEgI
The second video I chose shows an example of satiation. This video is a clip from Man vs. Food. Man vs. Food is a television show where a man named Adam travels around the United States looking for the best pig-out places and greatest food challenges. In this particular challenge, Adam and a friend attempt to finish an 11 pound pizza in under an hour but they do not succeed. The part of the video that I am referring to in this example starts at about 5:40.
A.)Big Pie in the Sky Pizzeria
B.) Eat the Carnivore Challenge Pizza
C.) Throws up the pizza.
This is an example of positive punishment. The target behavior of eating the Carnivore Challenge pizza will decrease in frequency due to the addition of an aversive feeling, which in this instance was getting sick.
Satiation is when any additional reinforcement to an organism will not alter the frequency of the behavior which is being reinforced. At first the pizza was very reinforcing. The pizza tasted delicious and the crowd cheered and gave words of advice to them men eating the pizza. But after the men reached satiation, the pizza was no longer reinforcing and the men did not finish the challenge. Drew, one of the competitors actually continued to eat once he had reached satiation and became sick. So, the pizza started out as a reinforcer because it tasted good, but after eating a certain amount the pizza was no longer desirable. The ABC’s explain how this situation came to be. The antecedent of being at the Big Pie in the Sky Pizzeria set the stage for the two men to eat the Carnivore Challenge pizza. If this was in any other context the behavior and consequence would have probably been much different.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSMjOGYSMa4&feature=related
The third video that I chose showed an example of deprivation. This video is a documentary about sleep deprivation. Two college students stay awake for 50 hours to test the effects of sleep deprivation.
A.) Sleep deprivation study
B.) Not falling asleep for 50 hours
C.) Hallucinations, irritability, lack of concentration, and other undesirable symptoms
This is an example of positive punishment because the frequency of staying awake for 50 hours will decrease in frequency due to the addition of the undesirable symptoms, like hallucinations and irritability.
Deprivation is withholding any stimulus which serves as a reinforcement to an organism. This is an example of an establishing operation because the value of a reinforcer is changed. Sleep does not seem that reinforcing to some people but when you are deprived of it for awhile, sleep becomes much more appealing and carries a greater importance. Sleep is reinforcing because it allows the organism to feel rejuvenated and energized after they wake up. However, in this video sleep, which is necessary to survival, was withheld for a specified amount of time. The person would be more likely to emit any type of behavior that someone else wanted them to if they were allowed to sleep afterwards. The ABC’s of behavior modification do a good job of explaining this situation. The antecedent of being in a sleep study set the stage for sleep deprivation to occur. If there had been a different type of antecedent then the target behavior and consequence would have been different as well since the ABC’s are all connected.

This first clip demonstrates a discriminative stimuli in the context of a police chase. The driver chooses to disregard the discriminative stimuli of the flashing lights and sirens of the police cruisers. They even PIT maneuver his car and he recovers control of his vehicle 3 separate times!
A- The officers attempt to pull over the suspect
B- The suspect disregards the officers and runs instead
C- The suspect is run off the road and apprehended
This is an example of negative punishment as the officers take away the freedom of the suspect. The suspect is not likely to repeat his behavior of disregarding the discriminative stimulus of the police officers' lights and sirens.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btuxO-C2IzE
This next clip demonstrates deprivation. In this video, two men who raised a lion cub and then had to release it into the wild. They were reunited with him in kenya after a year in the wild.
A- Lion is released into the wild for a year
B- His caregivers come to find him in kenya
C- Both the lion and his caregivers are ecstatic and affectionate after not seeing each other for so long
This is an example of positive reinforcement as both parties are rewarded with affection when they are reunited, this may increase the likelihood of more reuniting behavior.This this clip demonstrates deprivation for both the caregivers as well as the lion as they have both been deprived of each-other's attention, and are thusly very exited and appreciative of each-other's company when they are reunited.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyqhht1BDQw
This final clip demonstrates satiation. The guy in the video is attempting the Mcdonalds 100 chicken nugget challenge. He becomes satiated after 76 nuggets and cannot continue.
A- He begins the challenge
B- He eats beyond his capacity
C- He cannot continue the challenge
This is an example of positive punishment. The consumption of too many nuggets prevented him from continuing, and likely will prevent him from repeating the behavior. This clip demonstrates satiation as the individual was no longer gratified by the chicken, but was rather subjected to pain because of his overeating.
Terms: discriminative stimuli, deprivation, satiation, negative punishment, positive punishment, positive reinforcement, behavior
My first clip is for deprivation. It comes from the first episode of an anime called Naruto. Naruto is a young boy who is a social outcast of his village. When he is told by Mizuka how to gain more respect in the town, Naruto goes after this opportunity vigorously.
A= Naruto is deprived of social acceptance.
B= Naruto steals a secret scroll to learn a secret technique.
C= Naruto thinks this will cause him to gain respect from the other people in the village.
This is an example of positive reinforcement because Naruto believes his stealing behavior will be reinforced by the addition of respect from the villagers. This is a pleasurable stimulus to him.
This clip demonstrates deprivation because Naruto is being deprived, i.e. given an exceedingly inadequate amount, of social acceptance. When Mizuka suggests that Naruto steal the secret scroll, he leads Naruto to believe that this act will gain him respect. Respect is a much more powerful reinforcer for Naruto because he has been deprived of it. This begins at 7:19.

Satiation
In this rather short clip - I really couldn't find one that showed it any better than this- from the movie Hercules, Hercules throws down his costume and says that he has had enough. Before this, he had just finished becoming one of the greatest Greek heroes ever. This begins at second 15 of the clip.
A= Hercules receives an enormous amount of fame and riches.
B= Hercules still performs heroic acts.
C= He is no longer interested in the fame/riches.
This is an example of positive punishment because the added stimulus of fame has decreased the likelihood that Hercules will act in a way specifically designed to gain more fame and riches.
The clip shows Hercules' frustration and satiation with fame because he throws down one of his trophies and asks Phil "What's the point?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWxbibddf7w
Finally, for the Discriminative Stimulus clip, I chose a clip from the Fire Drill episode of The Office. In this episode, Dwight starts a fire and blocks all the exits to teach his co-workers a lesson. He explains they previously ignored his presentation on fire evacuation.
A= Dwight starts a fire in the office.
B= The others try to evacuate the office.
C= They are unable to leave because Dwight has blocked the exits, so they panic.
This is an example of positive reinforcement because the addition of the fire has increased the likelihood that the people in the office will emit an escape behavior.
In the clip, the smoke issuing from the door acts as the discriminative stimulus. The smoke elicits a panic response from the people in the office. It is the smoke that lets them know that their escaping behavior will be reinforced by them not being burnt to death. This part of the clip occurs at 0:58.

List of Terms: positive punishment, positive reinforcement, elicit, emit, discriminative stimulus, satiation, deprivation, response, behavior.
The first clip I am using is of a man who has slept through his alarm clock. His roommates are out in the living room listening as his alarm goes off but he does not awaken and this means that he can't turn it off, it just keeps beeping. This clip has an example of a discriminative stimulus.
A: Alarm Clock Goes Off
B: Sleep through it
C: Annoy Roommates
We can't see exactly how the roommates punish him, but I would assume that they would administer some kind of punishment. They could use negative punishment for example by removing his alarm clock from his room. This is removing something in order to decrease his sleeping in behavior.
If a discriminative stimulus tells us what to do or tells us how to act, the alarm clock is the discriminative stimulus. It is trying to elicit an awakening behavior by the man in the clip.
The alarm going off acts as the antecedent to the behavior of sleeping in. Because the man emitted this behavior the consequence involves his roommates becoming annoyed although the consequence is not explicitly represented in the clip.
The next clip is from the movie Blow with Johnny Depp. In this scene, the main character (Johnny Depp) is getting ready to leave the house for the hospital for the birth of his child. He is gathering his belongings which include a bag full of cocaine. He opens the bag and uses a straw to snort some of the drug. He must snort several times in order to elicit the desired effect. The next scene is at the hospital during the birth of his daughter. Johnny is standing near the delivery table and as soon as the child is born he keels over with a major heart attack caused by the cocaine. This clip is a representation of satiation.
A: Feeling nervous about the birth
B: Snort an obscene amount of cocaine
C: Heart Attack
This would be an example of positive punishment. It features the addition of something negative in order to decrease behavior.
If satiation is the reduction of a reinforcers effectiveness because the target has been previously satisfied by the stimulus then Johnny Depp has been satiated with cocaine. When he does a line, he receives some kind of positive feeling caused by the cocaine or stimulus. The more he gets of the stimulus, the less the stimulus effects him thus reducing the effectiveness of the "buzz" he gets from the cocaine. The antecedent is the nervous feeling he gets about the birth. This nervous feeling elicits a "snorting cocaine" response. Because the amount of cocaine is obscene he suffers the consequence of a heart attack.
The last video I have is from the movie Requiem for a Dream. In this scene, one of the main characters is in jail following a drug arrest. He has been strung out on heroin for a few days and consistently does heroin throughout the beginning of the movie. While in jail he suffers from withdrawal and it looks like torture. This clip features deprivation.
A: Heroin Addiction
B: In Jail
C: Suffers withdrawal
This would be an example of negative punishment because it features the removal of something positive in order to decrease the drug-possessing behavior.
If deprivation increases the effectiveness of a reinforcer by removing or limiting it, then the heroin is the stimulus that is being limited. When a person shoots up heroin they are used to an immediate positive feeling as reinforcement. If a person is addicted, their body is in a constant state of reinforcement caused by constant abuse of the drug. If this feeling is removed the effectiveness of the feeling elicited by the drug is increased. The antecedent of a heroin addiction sets up the behavior of residing in jail. This leads to a consequence of withdrawal.

Discriminative Stimulus, Elicit, consequence, antecedent, behavior, punishment, reinforcement, satiation, deprivation
This video clip is of a person playing the guitar and a dog is smiling and nodding when he is playing the guitar and when the person stops playing the dog stops smiling but then the man would start playing again and the dog emitted the nodding and smiling behavior again. This would be an example of discriminative stimuli.
A= Man playing the guitar
B= Dog nodding head and smiling
C= The man stops playing the dog stops smiling, the man starts playing again and the dog smiles and nods its head.
This is an example of positive reinforcement because the playing of the guitar elicited and nodding and smiling behavior of the dog.
The antecedent of this clip is the man playing the guitar as the discriminative stimuli. When the man playing the guitar the dog emits and head nodding behavior and looks as if this is a positive reinforcement of liking the sound and nodding to the music. When the man stops playing the dog stops the nodding behavior and looks at the man until he starts playing again. When he continues the dog continues with the emitting the nodding behavior.

(the clip starts right away but same behavior through out the whole clip, the first 15 seconds will be enough to understand the behavior)
This clip is from the movie Beethoven 2, when they are in a burger eating contest with their dogs. They have to eat as much as they can in three minutes to win, and he gets made fun of and they hurry to eat the most food before times it up. They end up winning but after that he doesn’t feel good and has to throw up causes satiation with eating the burgers.
A= Burger contest
B= eating the burgers way to fast
C= throws up
This is negative reinforcement because he doesn’t feel good and throws up after the contest.
The antecedent in this video clip is the burger eating contest that Beethoven and his owner is in. The behavior that is being emitting is eating all the burgers but as a consequence of emitting the eating behavior he is sick and throws up. Satiation occurred when they burgers became aversive and they felt sick.

This is a short film from Pixar called Knick Knack and its about a snowman wanting to get out of his snow globe to be with the hot chick at the beach. He does whatever necessary to get out of his globe and be with the chick. The chick serves as reinforcement for the snowman to get out of his globe and see her.
A= Snow man in Snow globe
B= Moving the snow globe to get out
C= doesn’t end up getting out
This is example of negative reinforcement because he doesn’t get out of the snow globe to see the chick.
The antecedent of this clip is the snowman in the snow globe, with emitting the behavior of moving the globe and the consequence of moving the globe it falls of the counter and he gets out for a second and the globe falls right on him and he is stuck in the globe.

Clip 1: Discriminative Stimulus
This clip is from the movie, Jackass; a scene titled ‘Midget Bar Fight’ and is about a guy and girl sitting in a bar perhaps on a date only to end in disaster when the girl’s ex discovers them. The to guys start fighting, midget police enter and end the thing with the people being escorted out of the bar.
A= Ex-boyfriend enters bar
B= Midget bar fight
C= Police walk them out of the bar
This is an example of positive punishment as the police are coming into the bar and kicking them out for fighting in said bar.
In the context of the ‘midget bar fight’ the discriminative stimulus is the ex-boyfriend entering the bar eliciting the fight. Once the bar fight is emitted the police walk everyone involved out. Being walked out of the bar is aversive hence this consequence is not wanted and fighting in the bar will be decreased over time.

Clip 2: Satiation
This clip is from the show The Big Bang Theory. In this clip it shows how Sheldon’s constant knocking to get Penny’s attention is used too much and the behavior he is trying to get her to elicit is not what he wanted.
A= Penny’s door
B= Sheldon’s knocking
C= Penny answers in anger
This is an example of positive punishment as Penny answers the door as Sheldon knocks in an aversive way.
Sheldon emits the behavior of knocking and saying Penny repeatedly until she elicit the behavior of answering the door but Sheldon begins to satiate; knocking so often that the consequence of the behavior is Penny’s answer becomes more prolonged and even angry.

Clip 3: Deprivation
This clip is from one of my favorite movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. In this clip Duke and Dr. Gonzo are at the circus after taking numerous drugs. However, while sitting at the bar in the circus Dr. Gonzo begins to experience withdrawal effects. While he was once content with being at the bar he suddenly gets a great fear and urge to leave the place.
A= The circus bar
B= Experiencing withdrawal effects
C= Dr. Gonzo leaves in fear
This is an example of positive punishment, as Dr. Gonzo gets fearful when he experiences the withdrawal effects.
This clip shows how the deprivation of the drugs leads Dr. Gonzo to experience withdrawal effects. Emitting this behavior elicits the fear which he finds aversive.

Descriminative Stimuli
-The clip I chose is of a flash mob that occurred in Grand Central Station.
A=Being in Grand Central Station
B=Dance in a flash mob
C=Uploading the video to youtube
This video is an example of positive reinforcement.
The music was the discriminative stimulus that signaled for everyone to start dancing that were participants.
The ABC's show how being in the station and hearing the music was the discriminative stimulus to start dancing.

Satiation
-This video is a clip from the movie Hot Rod. It's when Rod's three friends are sitting in the backyard waiting for Rod to get back to the house.
A=Waiting for Rod to come back
B=playing a high-five game
C=hand is sore from being hit so much
This video is an example of positive punishment. He keeps adding more high-fives which turn out to be a bad thing.
This video shows satiation because usually a high five is a good thing, but since he's hitting his hand so many times it hurts.

Deprivation
-This is a video of a clip from the show the Big Bang Theory. In this part, Penny gives Sheldon a gift for Christmas.
A=Christmas
B=Penny gives Sheldon a gift that he loves
C=Sheldon is extremely nice to Penny
This video is an example of negative reinforcement. Sheldon's negative comments are taken away which is reinforcement for Penny to do nice things for Sheldon like this. It is an example of deprivation because since she gave him the gift, she no longer experiences negative comments from him.

Clip #1
This clip is from the show Sex and the City. The woman and the man show up at a friends house for a party and are told to take off their shoes and they see everyone elses shoes by the door. This was vey aversive for the woman because she didn’t want to take off her shoes. This represents the concept of Discriminative stimulus.
A= Being told to take off their shoes and seeing shoes by the door
B= Take off shoes
C= Made her unhappy
Example of Positive Punishment.
This demonstrates a discriminative stimulus because her seeing the shoes by the door was a sign that told her she needed to take her shoes off as well. This represents the antecedent and sets the context of the behavior.

Clip #2
This clip is of two guys trying to break the world record of eating 10,000 sweat candies and they complete it. This represents the concept of Satiation.
A= Trying to break world record
B= Eating the candy
C= Throw up everywhere
Example of Negative punishment (I believe because the candy is being taken away from vomiting it up, although you are adding the vomiting, so I think it could go either way. Either way its punishment)
This demonstrates satiation because these guys stuffed themselves so full of candy that they threw up and were miserable. If someone offered them a piece of candy, that would not be very reinforcing for them at all.

Clip #3
This clip is about a person riding a horse and holding out a carrot in front of its nose in order for it to go forward. The horse eventually ends up getting and eating the carrot. This represents the concept of Deprivation.
A= Carrot hanging in front of horses nose
B= Walking forward
C= Eventually getting to eat the carrot
Example of Positive reinforcement
This demonstrates deprivation because the horse was deprived of the carrot for an extended period of time. The carrot was taunting the horse. When the horse finally got to eat the carrot it was very reinforcing for it.

1.)Discriminative Stimulus ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnSGhm3E1qs&feature=endscreen&NR=1
This is a video clip from a Mentos commercial in which the guy emits the behavior of reading an eviction notice.
A=its mail day
B=Reading an eviction notice from the mailbox
C=Trying to steal a womans purse in order to not get evicted.
This could be seen as positive reinforcement because it is adding the letter into the mail causing him to do something.
A discriminative stimulus influences the occurrence of an operant response. This clip is demonstrating a discriminative stimulus, because the guy emits a behavior of stealing a woman’s purse after reading the eviction letter. Therefore, the letter is the discriminative stimulus. The antecedent is that it’s mail day, so that’s why he got the letter. The behavior is the man trying to steal a purse. The consequence of the addition of the letter is eliciting a criminal behavior from the man.
Terms: Emit, elicit, eliciting, antecedent, behavior, consequence, discriminative stimulus, positive reinforcement, response
2.) Satiation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STB4s7Qhf40
- This is a clip Stand By Me, the part that demonstrates satiation is 0-35 seconds.
A=Pie contest
B=Eating to much to where you’re stuffed
C= Throwing up
This is an example of positive punishment, because something aversive was added to decrease the behavior. The boy emitted the behavior of eating too much pie. He then throws up all over everyone because he ate too much. In the beginning he found the consumption of pies to be pleasurable and easy, but at the end of his last pie he experienced satiation. The pie eventually becomes aversive and starts working as a punishment, decreasing the likelihood that he will enter another pie eating contest.
Terms: positive punishment, aversive, emitted
3.) Deprivation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZX9Rv_2_C0
This is a clip from a Budweiser commercial talking about getting it in the can
A=At alcohol involved social events
B=Getting a canned Budweiser
C= Happy that you got a canned bud again instead of draft or bottled.
-This is an example of positive reinforcement because you are adding the canned beer back into your life.
-Deprivation is withholding any stimulus that serves as a reinforcer. This demonstrates deprivation, because the people had been deprived of canned beer; some had never had it or some haven’t had in a long time meaning the stimulus of the canned beer was withheld. , therefore once they get the canned beer that’s all they can talk or think about. The antecedent is alcohol involved social events, the behavior is receiving a canned beer, and the consequence is the people are emitting an excited behavior.
Terms: Emit, antecedent, behavior, consequence, reinforcer, stimulus, deprivation, positive reinforcement.

In this clip Chandler asks Monica to tell him how to please his girlfriend. So, she describes to him what to do. In too much detail elicits Chandler uncomfortable and he leaves, not wanting to know any more information. This is satiation.
A=Chandler not being able to please his girlfriend.
B=Monica describing the erogenous zones.
C=It make Chandler very uncomfortable.
This would be positive punishment.
Chandler does not know how to please his girlfriend, so he asks for Monica's help. As she gives him as he asks, it turns out that he does not want it. This decreased his desire for the information.

In this episode Ross is deprived of sex. Talking him-self into believing that his cousin was hinting that she wanted him to make a move. He tried to kiss her and turns out she was not hinting anything.
Deprivation
A=Ross not having sex in awhile
B=Ross trying to kiss his cousin
C=Hurting his relationship with his cousin.
This is negative punishment.
Ross was deprived of sex for an extended period of time. So, given that it was on his mind he emitted kissing his cousin. Sex, being what was being taken away from him.

Joey appeared to have a Porsche. This caused women to interact with him freely than when he didn't have a Porsche.
Descriptive stimuli
A=Joey appearing to have a Porsche.
B=The two girls noticing and flirting with Joey
C=Joey getting a date and or girlfriend due to the Porsche.
Positive reinforcement.
Joey appearing to have a Porsche affects the likelihood of women emitting a flirting behavior with him.
Term:emit, elicits, satiation, deprivation, descriptive stimuli.
Deprivation:
This video is from the movie Baby Mama. In the clip Amy Phoeler is lying to Tina Fey about being pregnant. Because of this alcohol is aversive and Amy Phoeler is desperate to drink tonight. She emited the behavior of stealing strangers’ and Tina Fey’s drinks in order to be sneaky about it.
A- Amy convinced Tina to visit the club.
B- Amy drinks alcohol.
C- Amy emits happiness.
This is an example of positive reinforcement. By getting Tina Fey to go to the club, Amy Phoeler had the opportunity to drink.
Amy Phoeler devised the plan that Tina Fey would be too drink or distracted at the club to notice she was drinking.

Discriminative Stimuli:
In this clip from Family Guy Meg has made Brian a pie. She lets him eat a portion of it before revealing that she has baked some of her hair into it.
A- Meg brings Brian a pie.
B- Meg tells Brian there is hair in it.
C- Brian is angry she put hair in the pie.
This is positive punishment. Meg is unhappy with Brian and wants to get back at him by putting hair in the pie she give to him.
Meg telling Brian the hair is in the pie makes him not want to eat it anymore (discriminative stimuli).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lich59xsjik
Satiation:
This is a clip of a burrito-eating contest.
A- Jonathan participates in a burrito-eating contest.
B- He attempts to will the contest.
C- He pace slows down as he eats more.
This is positive reinforcement, the more of the burrito they ate; the closer they came to winning the contest.
Although the burrito was good when they started eating it, it was less appetizing when they got closer to the end.

Emit, deprivation, behavior, positive reinforcement, positive punishment, discriminative stimuli, satiation, and positive reinforcement.
Discriminative:
In this clip from Family Guy, Meg has just returned from a stint in prison. She then proceeds to rearrange the family hierarchy using prison methods.
A=Meg returns home from prison
B=Meg beats up Peter
C=Peter is no longer the toughest or funniest in the house
This is an example of positive punishment. Meg returning from prison, wearing a bandana and covered in tattoos is a discriminative stimulus because these things signify that you shouldn’t mess with her. Her attitude and demeanor are also discriminative stimulus.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ejvh43ogvg
Satiation:
This clip is also from family guy and shows Peter, Brian, Chris, and Stewie competing for that last piece of pie. They consume a liquid from the pharmacy that causes them to throw up.
A=There is only one piece of pie
B=They drink the pharmacy liquid
C=Everyone throws up
This is an example of positive punishment. This is an example of satiation because after emitting the behavior of consuming this liquid, no one is interested in the pie anymore. What was one a reward, elicits the consequence of wanting to throw up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eYSpIz2FjU
Deprivation:
This is a commercial for a Bank of America Cash Rewards credit card. In this commercial we see the customers talking about the rewards system Bank of America offers.
A=Using a credit card
B=Using the Bank of America card for rewards
C= More frequent use of the BofA card to earn rewards
This is an example of positive reinforcement. This is also an example of deprivation because according the B of A, other cards have certain things they deprive their customers of and because the customers have been deprived else where, they find the rewards from Bank of America to be much more desirable.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7mHIynspkc
Terms: Satiation, Deprivation, Discriminative Stimulus, Positive Punishment, Positive Reinforcement, Emit, Elicit
Discriminative Stimulus
This clip is of a school having a fire drill.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NyUP5E-l5s
A=Fire drill
B=exiting the building
C=Children are safe from the "fire"
This is an example of positive reinforcement because the fire alarm is the addition and elicits the behavior of the children to exit the school.
This clip demonstrates the fire alarm as the discriminative stimulus, this is because the fire alarm is the stimulus which causes the children to elicit the emitted behavior of leaving the school. This also creates the desirable consequence of being safe from the "fire" in the future.
Satitiation
This clip is one that comes from the movie Matilda and shows the cake scene in which Miss Trenchbull is forcing Bruce to eat an entire giant chocolate cake for taking a piece of her's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ2sRkGrtIg (2:30)
A=School
B=Eating Chocolate Cake
C=Becoming zombie like and full
This is an example of positive punishment because to exstinguish Bruce's eating behavior Miss Trenchbull forces him to emit the behavior of eating all of the cake put in front of him. This creates an undesirable feeling in Bruce and it will be unlikely that Bruce will repeat the behavior. Also the punishment is positive because the cake is the addition and punisher.
This is a good example of satitation because when Miss Trenchbull elicits the behavior of eating from Bruce. After some time of emitting this behavior Bruce becomes full and even sickly looking (at about 2:30ish). He become satiated of emitting the behavior of eating.
Deprivation
This is a clip from despicable me where the girls report their meger cookie sales to their foster mother Miss Hady. At around 1:20 Miss Hady mentions that the girls wouldn't want to be put in the box of shame. Then at the end of the clip you see Penny in the box of shame (a cardboard box with a whole cut out for a window).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP-NaOmXXUI (1:20)
A=Orphanage
B=Upsetting Miss Hady
C=Being put in the box of shame
The box of shame is an example of negative punishment because you are taking away all of the child's other resources and interactions as a form of punishment for their behavior. This is in hopes of exstinguishing said behavior so that it doesn't happen again.
This is a good example of deprevation because by being in the box of shame the girl may not have access to food or resources to live properly. She may have to skip a meal, which will only make food a greater reinforcer once she gets out.
Terms: positive reinforcement, discriminative stimulus, elicits, emit,desirable, consequence, positive punishment, exstinguish, undesirable, addition, satitiation, deprevation, negative punishment, reinforcer.
Satiation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ2sRkGrtIg (Start at the beginning- stop at 1:07 , then begin again at 1:32- stop at 2:05)
This video is a clip of satiation! In this video clip, Bruce Bogtrotter had snuck a piece of chocolate cake from the school's principle. The principle found out about it and sat Bruce in front of the entire school in the auditorium and told him to eat a piece of chocolate cake. Then she brought out an entire chocolate cake and told him that no one was allowed to leave the auditorium until he finished the cake. This is satiation because the effectiveness of the chocolate cake being a reinforcer will now decrease or diminish.
ABC's of Behavior
Antecedent= School (Auditorium).
Behavior= Snuck a piece of cake.
Consequence= Has to eat an entire cake (before anyone can leave).
This is an example of positive punishment because the principle is adding a stimulus (chocolate cake) to decrease a behavior (sneaking chocolate cake).
This video clip demonstrates the ABC's of behavior because the antecedent or discriminative stimulus or the setting of the school's auditorium affects how Bruce will act to the principle. His behavior of sneaking a piece of the chocolate cake results in the consequence of him having to eat an entire cake in front of the school.
Deprivation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YersIyzsOpc (whole video its hilarious!)
This video is an example deprivation because this boys mother canceled his Modern Warfare account online. She took something away from him that meant a lot to him. So in return this boy ferociously runs into his room and FREAKS out!! This is deprivation because in order for the mother to have control she needed to take the account away, to make that account more of a reinforcement.
ABC's of Behavior
Antecedent= In the home (in the boys room).
Behavior= His mother cancels the online account and the boy freaks out.
Consequence= The boy does as his mother says to get his account back.
This is an example of negative reinforcement. This is negative because a stimulus is being taken away (the online account) and the behavior is being reinforced (cleaning his room and doing his chores). What we didn't get to see before in this clip is that the boy was wasting all of his time on this website and not doing what he was supposed to, so taking this away will make him want to do what he needs to do, to get his account back.
This video clip demonstrates the ABC's of Behavior because the context of this clip would be different depending on his antecedent or setting. The boy went into the privacy of his own room the “freak out”, if he were in public, he probably would act a little differently. Because his mother canceled his account he will do what his mother wants so the consequence will be the boy getting his account back!
Discriminative Stimulus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEju9_2ZNH0 (the whole video).
This video is of a young boy who accidentally walked into the girls public restroom. This is an example of discriminative stimulus because he “ignored” the sign that said women's. The discriminative stimulus did not work in this example.
ABC's of Behavior
Antecedent= Girls public restroom.
Behavior= A boy walked into a girls restroom.
Consequence= Walking out and being embarrassed by his friends and/or family.
This is an example of positive punishment. This is positive because a stimulus (laughter and embarrassment) is being added to decrease the behavior (of a boy walking into a girls public restroom). I'm pretty sure that next time the boy will take a double look of which public bathroom he is walking into!
This video clip demonstrates the ABC's of behavior because the antecedent especially plays apart in the behavior and consequence because a boy walked into the girls public restroom. Because this boy did that, the chances of the boy repeating this behavior will decrease because he doesn't want the consequence of his behavior to occur again!
Terminology Used: Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence, Discriminative Stimulus, Satiation, Deprivation, Punishment, Reinforcement, Negative, Positive.
I'm sorry, I never look above to see what videos were used before mine, and I just noticed that someone above me had used the same video as mine, It was accidental because I had this one in mind before I even got on the website.
Clip #1 Discriminative Stimuli
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvnMG0D9Fwc
This clip uses offensive language just a warning. But basically Peter Griffin from family guys is telling a joke to his family and no one laughs at his joke.
Please then list the ABC's of the behavior
A= Family asked to hear Peter's joke.
B= Tells Joke.
C= No one Laughs.
Negative punishment because usually people laugh after hearing a joke, however his family removed laughter because they did not find the joke funny.
This clip demonstrates discriminative stimuli because usually when you emit the behavior of telling a joke you elicit that people will laugh at your joke when you are done telling it. Peter received an operant response as no one laughed at his joke when he was done telling it.
Clip #2 Satiation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhLPen6PVLI
A cat refusing to eat it's food after the owner continuously reminds it to finish getting it's food.
Please then list the ABC's of the behavior
A= Owner wants cat to eat.
B= Owner encourages cat, however cat is not hungry.
C= Cat doe not finish food.
Negative reinforcement because the owner is going to take it's good away if it doesn't eat, increasing the likely of the cat to eat it's meal before it is taken away.
This clip demonstrates satiation because the owner elicits the behavior of eating towards the cat, however the cat does not emit the behavior because he is not hungry and has achieved satiation from already eating.
Clip #3 Deprivation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vN_Fz7xhBc
This clip is about a baby that loses it's pants and struggles with trying to get them back and becomes upset and tries to find a new pair of pants as a result.
Please then list the ABC's of the behavior
A= Baby is crawling on floor.
B= Baby loses pants.
C= Baby becomes upset and looks for new pair in basket.
Negative punishment because his pants are removed and he is upset about it.
This clip demonstrates deprivation because the child feels that having pants is a need, upon losing his pants he attempts to get them back and then searches for a new pair. It is important for the child's personal needs for him to have pants and becomes upset when he loses them.
Terms: Discriminative stimuli, negative punishment, emit, elicit, operate response, satiation, negative reinforcement, deprivation, negative punishment.
